Dear Friends and Family,
As many of you already know, for the past two years I have been battling renal disease and have been on dialysis three days a week, five hours a day. This is keeping me alive. Though I am doing fairly well on this treatment, I am unable to work. The only real shot I have at a long and health life is to receive a kidney transplant as soon as possible.
Currently, I am completing my medical evaluation at the Medical University of South Carolina. However, due to the extraordinary expense of transplantation, as well as my inability to work, funding this life-saving operation is a monumental task. Despite having Medicare, many of my medical needs are not covered and must be paid out-of-pocket such as: co-pays and deductibles, doctor visits, travel and temporary relocation costs at the time of the transplant and the costly immunosuppressant medications that I will need to take for the rest of my life (which alone may cost more than $5,000). This presents a financial challenge that I cannot meet alone.
To help offset these uninsured costs, a fundraising campaign in my honor has been established with HelpHOPELive (formerly NTAF), a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for nearly 30 years. All contributions are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the South-Atlantic Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. You can help make a difference in my life. Please consider making a contribution.Together we can make a difference — please help me during this difficult time. Thank you in advance for generosity and support.
Best regards,
