Our mother, Ivette Zayas Ramos, is a 56-year-old mother and grandmother who needs your help. For over 15 years she has been fighting serious health issues and needs of a lifesaving liver transplant to survive. Through it all, she has maintained her lovable spirit while patiently awaiting a new liver. The cost of a liver transplant is enormously expensive which is not only very overwhelming for Ivette but also to those around her.
Ivette, originally from Puerto Rico, moved her family to Orlando for a better life and devoted herself as a single parent to raising her daughter Diana and her baby boy Ricky. Her family has been her motivation to keep going. In 1999 she underwent five back surgeries over the course of the next few years due to a work-related injury. All the required medication during this time damaged her liver and, in 2011, while visiting her older sister in Texas, she ended up in the hospital with severe pain. It was at that time that doctors diagnosed Ivette with cirrhosis of the liver, a slowly progressing disease in which healthy liver tissue is replaced with scar tissue that prevents it from functioning properly. Ivette deals with severe retention of excessive amounts of salt and water and, because her liver is not properly removing toxic substances, they accumulate in the blood causing brain impairment.
Transplants are lifesaving but financially draining. Even with insurance, Ivette is facing very high expenses including at least three months lodging near the hospital, caregiver costs, and anti-rejection medications necessary for the rest of her life. For this reason, I humbly ask for your support.
To help with the financial burden of Ivette Zayas Ramos’ uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in her honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law, are held by Help Hope Live in the Southeast Liver Transplant Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for transplant-related expenses only. Please consider a contribution.

Three years ago her first grandchild was born. As a new Abuele (grandma), she cried tears of joy. Knowing she may not be here to watch him grow, brought tears of great sadness. Please help us help our mother. Any size donation is greatly appreciated.
With sincere gratitude,
Diana Ivette Innis (Ivette’s daughter)
