My cousin, Naomi Day is an 18-year-old young lady who is very ill and in desperate need of a life-saving kidney/pancreas transplant. When Naomi was a year old, she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. She is now in end stage renal failure and is completely dependent on dialysis for survival.
Naomi has always lived in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Up until last year Naomi was your typical teenager, attending Ardmore High School, working at the local grocery store and spending time with her friends and family. Sadly, her life has now been put on hold because of her illness. She is on dialysis three days every week and must travel two hours away to OU Children’s Hospital for her dialysis treatment. She eagerly awaits the day she can go back to finish high school, get a job and also have the energy to see her friends.
This transplant will save her life. A transplant is also very expensive. Even with insurance, there are many expenses that must be paid out of pocket. Some of these expenses are co-pays, deductibles, lab fees, travel to and from the transplant center and Naomi will be on anti-rejection medications for the rest of her life. In addition, at the time of transplant she will need to relocate to be close to the hospital for at least one month following the transplant. Our family is up against a challenge we cannot meet alone and desperately need your help.
To help with the financial burden of Naomi’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in her honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law, are held by Help Hope Live in the South-Central Kidney/Pancreas Transplant Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for transplant related expenses only. On behalf of Naomi and our family, thank you for your prayers and support as she continues to stay strong through this rough time in her life. Your contributions help greatly.
Gratefully,
Sonya Payan

As of July 21st it has been 1 full year Naomi received her successful kidney/pancreas transplant. She has come a long way. She is no longer insulin or dyalisis dependent and she is very grateful for this second chance at life. She has had some hospital stays due to the medicine making her immune system so weak. Anything as small as a common cold can land her in the hospital. She has to take very exspensive medicine for the rest of her life to ensure these organs stay functioning properly and her body doesn't reject them. Even with insurance the copays tend to get exspensive especially for a young adult who is now learning to navigate through life. Naomi is forever grateful to the family whom have made one of the hardest decisions to make and gave her her gift. All donations made will be towards making sure she can still afford to continue getting the medicine she needs to keep her transplanted organs functioning. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all you have done and continue to do. A special thank you to the family that gave her a second chance.
