Dear Friends and Family:
Wallace and I have been married ten years. He has been living with diabetes and hypertension for almost 20 years. Three years into our marriage, he was diagnosed with end stage renal failure and from there the rest is history. After being on dialysis three days a week in the center for two years, his doctor recommended three hours of home hemo-dialysis five days a week. Although this may seem convenient, for his line of work it has caused employment issues and thusly he now works two days a week.
I am proud of my husband, in spite of this curve ball life has thrown him, his faith is stronger and he is more determined than ever to take better care of his health and survive. Wallace has faced many medical complications and constant hospitalization and his only chance of survival is a kidney transplant.
Currently, Wallace is on the kidney transplant list at Shands Hospital and has also been on the transplant list at Jackson Memorial Hospital for two and a half years.
Because of financial difficulties, it has been a struggle to save for uninsured medical expenses such as lifelong immunosuppressant medications, travel to and from the center, relocation at the time of transplant, and other out-of-pocket expenses. This presents a challenge that we cannot meet alone.
To assist in offsetting uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in Wallace’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for over 30 years. All contributions are tax deductible, are held in the Southeast Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. You can help make a difference in Wallace’s life. Please consider contributing to this worthy cause.
Monetary donations may be submitted in the form of a check, money order, or cashier’s check.
