Luckily, Molei survived the accident, but now she has to begin the long process of retraining her mind and body to breathe, walk, talk and eat – to live. With the right medical care, she can hopefully regain her former life, so her family and friends are raising money to cover costs that go beyond insurance, which are many.
All of Molei’s injuries add up to a seriously complicated recovery. A complete recovery could take up to two years, potentially longer. Thankfully Molei is fortunate enough to live in Denver, CO, home to one of the world’s top rehabilitative hospitals, Craig Hospital. That’s where she’ll spend time working with speech, occupational and physical therapists in hopes of getting back to living the life she worked so hard to build.
Before the accident, Molei lived a much fulfilled life. She graduated from Colorado State University with a Pre-Med degree and after a few years working in oncological healthcare began a successful career as a financial saleswoman. Always active, Molei spent most of her weekends in the mountains – skiing or hiking – or in the park playing volleyball. Her kind heart has earned her a large circle of loving friends; she’s touched the lives of many people. She’s also been a strong pillar of support for her family, too, helping her mother through a battle with cancer and forgoing personal dreams to save money for her little sister’s college fund.
Molei is already working hard to regain all that she’s lost, and a full recovery could be a reality for her, she just needs the financial support to continue her journey to wellness.
Insurance will only pay for 60 days at Craig, and we want to make sure she doesn’t fall short of her potential simply because the money runs out. We’re trying to raise money to make sure she can spend as much time at Craig as she needs, and cover the additional costs of outpatient therapy and home modifications after she leaves the hospital.
The accident that led to Molei’s injuries was catastrophic to say the least. On a mountain road in the middle of a blizzard she was saved by a Good Samaritan passing by. The CPR took more than 45 minutes of CPR before he handed her off to firefighters for an hour-long ambulance ride to the emergency room. By all means she should not be here today. Molei has been blessed by miracle after miracle to get to this point and it seems she is destined for success. Anything you can do to contribute to her recovery would be greatly appreciated.

On behalf of Molei, her family and all of her friends, thank you for your compassion and generosity.
Molei needs your help. She’s been through a lot and survived it all – a near fatal accident, a three-month coma, five months in the hospital total and uncountable setbacks along the way – but she survived. When she got home, she continued to receive care for a short time but unfortunately her insurance stopped covering her about four months ago. Without insurance, she’s been unable participate in therapy (speech, occupational and physical). That means she’s had a big setback in her recovery.
From the beginning of Molei’s injury, the doctors always said she’d have a shot at a full recovery. Without care though, she will fall short. A pending court case should give her the ability to make healthcare decisions for herself again and once she’s able she’ll need to work harder than ever if she wants to get back to a somewhat normal life. As time goes by, healing becomes harder, so she’ll need help. She can learn to walk, speak and eat well again, but only with the help of professional therapists. If you are able to donate, this fundraising campaign can only disburse funds for medical expenses and Molei plans to use if for therapy. Whatever you can give will be greatly appreciated and will go a long way toward helping a deserving person reclaim some of her life. Thank you for your kindness.
Well it’s been a while since we gave an update on Molei, but she got a special call from a Mr. Peyton Manning the other day and that’s worth noting! It couldn’t have come at a better time either. She recently had surgery to rebuild her vocal cords because her voice is faint, and some complications arose after. Three days after the surgery, we had to rush her to the hospital where she was intubated and admitted to the ICU for four days. It was really rough on her and really scary. It left her feeling a little deflated after months of progress. But just a few days after, Peyton called to tell her he was rooting for her! He said he’d been following her story and praying for her. That’s pretty much the perfect pep talk to get a loyal fan back on track. She was beaming for days and now she’s continuing to strive towards the goal of walking. Hopefully the surgery will work in the long run and she’ll get her voice back too! Big thanks to the G.O.A.T, Mr. Manning, for giving Molei a ring; such a small gesture, but such a large impact.
A nice follow up story about Molei's path toward recovery and some Molei-approved footage of her kicking butt in physical therapy. Getting stronger every day and still smiling.

It’s been a month since Molei moved to Craig Hospital and she’s continuing to make great progress in her recovery. She’s speaking and eating now! Both take a lot of effort, but it’s a good start. She’s able to stand a lot easier and even started to work on walking up stairs in physical therapy. Again a difficult task that takes help but it’s amazing that she can do it at all.
She no longer has a tracheostomy tube or catheter. Once she’s able to eat enough the doc will remove her feeding tube too. That’ll be the last tube and she’ll be hardware free, besides where they fused her spine.
Her memory seems pretty well intact. It appears she remembers everything but January through April. That’s really good given the extent of her injuries.
She’s cracking jokes, playing board games and trying to work hard in therapy so she can get home. She still has a long way to go but things are looking up.
