Ken’s life was thrown into upheaval when he was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) four years ago. His condition has gradually worsened and he has been placed on a waiting list for a kidney transplant. Ken will receive a living donor transplant on July 12, 2016. The kidney will come from his wife Paula – you know it’s true love when your wife doesn’t hesitate to offer one of her own kidneys!
After many years of helping others, Ken is now the one who needs help. Ken has been a hard worker for many years and is currently a machinist at Borg Warner. Ken is also a member of the ERT and was previously a mechanic at Bill Cooke Imports. Ken is looking to spending more time with his grandkids post-transplant. He just wants to get healthy and enjoy life again!
Transplantation and follow-up care are very expensive. Since Paula will also be undergoing major surgery as the donor, Paula and Ken will have a long list of expenses. Evert with insurance, there are co-pays and deductibles, medications and clinic visits. Costs could exceed $20,000.
To help with the financial burden of Ken’s expenses, a fundraising campaign in his honor has been established with Help Hope Live. To make a tax deductible donation, click Donate Now.
If we all work together we can make Ken’s prospects of the future much brighter.
With sincere gratitude,
Paula Demeree, Ken’s loving wife
