My loving husband, Kerry Moore is 53-years-old that just received a life saving liver transplant. Due to complications with the transplant Kerry is now in at the UVA Long Term Care Facility. The costs associated with a Liver Transplant and rehabilitation are overwhelming.
Kerry is a wonderful step-father to Aspen, Devan and father to Afton and Gabriel. He is the kindest and sweetest man you will ever meet. He greets strangers as if they are longtime friends, always quick with a smile and his witty sense of humor. He grew up in Virginia Beach and attended Kempsville High School. He went on to become a member of Sigma Pi Fraternity at James Madison University with a dual degree in Psychology and Sociology. Kerry has always had a soft spot for kids and has dedicated time to coach baseball, softball and basketball teams for the youth of Powhatan, VA.
Unfortunately, Kerry’s illness has left him bedridden most of the time. He is unable to work and partake in many of the activities he previously enjoyed, such as going to see his favorite hockey team, the Tampa Bay Lightning and going to NASCAR races at RIC. After his recovery from his transplant and the subsequent issues arising from the transplant, he looks forward to returning to work, spending time with family and friends and becoming an active member of the community again.
Transplants are lifesaving but financially draining. Even with insurance there are many expenses that must be paid out of pocket. Some of these are co-pays, deductibles, travel back and forth to the transplant center and relocation for up to six months at the time of transplant. In addition, Kerry will be on a life-time of expensive anti-rejection medications. This puts us up against a challenge we cannot meet alone and desperately need your support.
To help with the financial burden of Kerry’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in his honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law, are held by Help Hope Live in the South-Atlantic Liver Transplant Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for transplant related expenses only. Thank you for your prayers, support and generosity. Keep an eye on Kerry’s campaign page at www.helphopelive.org. because we will be planning some fundraising events soon and posting updates regularly.
Gratefully,
Allie Moore

Kerry was released from the UVA Transitional Care Hospital! It is great that he could come home instead of going to a long term care facility. God has blessed us. I know it is because of all of the prayers that have been said on our behalf.
Kerry has severe memory loss but the doctors believe this is something that will be corrected. He is going to Sheltering Arms for Cognitive Therapy (for his memory), Speech Therapy, Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy. I have NO DOUBT my husband will conquer this and regain his memory and his ability to communicate effectively. Thank you all for your prayers, emotional support and financial support. We are humbled beyond belief. We are planning some fund raisers so everyone can come and have fun. This will help us financially but it is also better than asking for a donation. This way everyone can see Kerry and have fun at the same time. We look forward to seeing everyone! Check back to see what we have planned. God bless. Allie Moore
Due to Kerry receiving a new liver he has acquired a seizure disorder that requires him to stay at UVA Long Term Care Hospital. Kerry is currently receiving treatment and testing. After many tests it is still unclear as to what is causing the seizure disorder. Each time Kerry has a seizure it leaves him totally drained. Kerry's memory has been altered and he has trouble with his speech. Speech therapists and physical therapists are working with him to strengthen his abilities and get him back to the old Kerry we all know and love. Thank you all for your prayers and support. This has been a very tough time emotionally and financially and your support has been noted and extremely appreciated. Here's looking for a fantastic 20017. I know Kerry will get better and will be back to normal. God bless.
Kerry has been transferred to a Long Term Transitional Hospital. This transfer affords him the ability to have intense Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy and Cognitive Therapy.
Please continue to pray for Kerry as he has a long road ahead of him. The fantastic news is that his new liver is working wonderfully!
Kerry is still in the hospital after being life flighted from Richmond to UVA on Saturday December 3rd. They do not know why he has been suffering seizures or why he has lost his memory. He is living in the time frame of about 1995-2003. He recognizes me and my son but everything else is a mumbo-jumbo of thoughts and ideas. Please keep Kerry in your thoughts and prayers. The good news is that Kerry's new liver is operating perfectly!
Kerry continues to do well on his road to recovery. The doctor will be in shortly and the general consensus is that he will be moved from M-ICU to the step down unit. He should be in the step down for a week or so, depending on his progress, before going to the general med floor.
Kerry was able to have visitors and he was happy to see a couple of his old fraternity brothers this weekend. Thanks again for your love and support.

Kerry received a new liver yesterday. He was experiencing bleeding in the abdomen so they took him back to the O.R. to operate. They found the source of the bleeding and fixed the problem. The doctor said his new liver is working exceptionally and that the outcome could not have been better. I believe in the power of positive thinking and prayer.
Thank you all for your love and support. We can not express the gratitude in our hearts.

Kerry is at UVA. He has a liver waiting for transplant. His surgery will be at 8 PM. Please keep him in your prayers that the surgeons are swift and precise in their endevours. Pray that my best friend has a easy surgery and the recovery is quick. We are truly blessed. Some people as sick as Kerry go months waiting for a liver. Thank you all for your prayers, support and love.

Kerry is still in the hospital. We got good news today! After blood transfusions and a strict fluid intake Kerry's kidney function is back to his baseline so the kidneys are not putting a strain on his already useless liver. The doctors are optimistic he will be released tomorrow. The best news is because of his diminished kidney function his pool of potential donors has grown by three more states. We are praying for that call for a new liver virtually at any time. Thank you all for your donations, friendship and prayers.
Kerry was admitted to UVA Medical Center on Sunday the 13th. His amonia levels were incredibly high and his kidney levels were somewhat elevated but not high enough to get worried about. He is resting comfortably. He wanted me to thank everyone that has reached out, donated, prayed and overall been there for us. I will keep this updated.

Kerry went to UVA yesterday for another very long day. He has a paracentecis where they drew off only 7.5 liters. That's a small draw for Kerry. His blood work came back really good so it was a real positive day! He is feeling as well as can be expected and his spirits are up. It is so great for so many of his old friends to reach out to him. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

Kerry had a great day yesterday. Three of his childhood friends that he hasn't seen in many years came to visit him. He laughed and talked. It did wonders for his spirit so thank you so much Sharon, Rob and Eric!
Kerry has spent the last few days at UVA in Charlottesville. He had a paracentesis yesterday where they drew off 13.2 liters of fluid from his abdomen. He is at home resting now in less pain.
We want to thank everyone for their warm thoughts and prayers as well as donations given in his honor. A fundraising effort is being planned. Details will be posted. Thanks again, God bless!
Kerry went back to UVA Medical Center today for a Albumin Infusion. We wanted to let all of his friends know that he is doing well and we want to thank his friends that have contributed thus far. We look forward to seeing many of you soon. Thank you also for your prayers!
Good news! Kerry's sodium level has come up to 127 which is within the regular parameters so they have released him from the hospital. He was listed on Friday October 14, 2016. Best day in the world. !
Kerry has been released from the ICU/Med Transplant floor to go home where he is resting comfortably. His spirits are high and his strength is building. He has gained 6 pounds. That doesn't sound like much but to be in his position at 123 pounds, its a HUGE deal. I ask that everyone pray for Kerry because he is the light of so many peoples lives. God bless!
Kerry is in UVA Hospital right now. They moved him from the M-ICU floor to the Liver Transplant floor! Thing's are looking better right now. We want to thank everyone for their support and prayers!
Kerry, I have such fond memories of our time together at JMU and Sigma Pi. Prayers for a full recovery and I hope that Mark and I can see you and meet Allie sometime in 2017. Love and prayers, Lisa Waller
