After many years of helping others, he needs your help. Transplants are lifesaving but financially draining. UNC Chapel Hill, where he is listed for a transplant, strongly recommends that all transplant candidates raise funds for transplant-related items not covered by insurance such as co-pays, deductibles and lab fees. In addition, he will be on a lifetime of expensive anti-rejection medications. This is where your support is desperately needed.
To help offset such expenses, a fundraising campaign in Frank’s honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law, are held by Help Hope Live in the South-Atlantic Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for transplant-related expenses only. If you would like to make a contribution, please click the DONATE NOW bar.
Thank you for your support, kindness and prayers. Please know that your contribution counts.
With sincere gratitude,
Jack N. Verga

I have some GREAT news! After waiting for 6 years and 7.5 months (on dialysis for 3 of those years), I finally received a kidney transplant about 4 weeks back and am recovering well! Thanks again for all your thoughts and generosity.
I wanted to take a moment and thank everyone! Please know that your kindness gives me a great deal of strength and hope to persevere. You all are the best! :)

Hello Frank,
Your sister Adrienne works with my husband and she has made us aware of your struggle. We pray for a quick match and a successful transplant! May God's love bring you peace.

Just wanted to add an extra note of encouragement here. Tony covered a lot of the key points but I wanted to make sure and second his messages of support in this venue. We're here for you now and will be there to support you throughout!

Dear Frank,
I work side by side with your sister and she shared your story. One Adrienne's characteristics I admire the most is her love for her family, and the strength of the bonds you share are clear in the way she speaks of you. You are in our thoughts and prayers, for healing and peace.

Thanks for keeping things moving at work and helping us to "fight the good fight"!

Frank,
Carrie and I have watched you (not in a creepy way) over the years as your kidneys have been in decline taking you to where you are now - fully dependent on dialysis and relegated to many fewer activities from which you used to find enjoyment. During these non-creepy years of us watching you, you have kept such an optimistic outlook and put forth inspiring effort to improve your quality of life through increased health consciousness. It has been amazing to see what you’ve accomplished in how you’ve managed to sustain your contribution to society via work while also remaining an integral part of the lives of those around you and those that care about you; you’ve done this despite the increasing challenge due to your health.
With all that said and to Jack’s point regarding how much you’ve helped others, it is important that you know you have our support!! You have a great group of friends and family all of which have the desire and ability to support you in your time of increasing need. Now you know. :0)

"When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project, all of your thoughts break their bonds, your mind transcends limitations, your consciousness expands in every direction and you find yourself in a new great and wonderful world. Dormant forces, faculties and talents become alive, and you discover yourself to be a greater person by far than you ever dreamed yourself to be." - Patanjali

Hey Man,I hope you know that I'm here for you for anything (and I think you do); What you may not know is how much I look up to you, and how much I've learned from you. Thank you for all that you are and all that you share. Not only do you set a high standard for the role of "big brother", but also of great friend!
-Joe
Frank, you are truly an amazing and special person and it has been so wonderful getting to know you these past few years. Please know that Joe and I are here if you ever need anything. I'm so happy to call you my brother-in-law-to-be!

Frank,
Let me start by saying that we are so very blessed to have you as a brother and uncle. We see how much you do behind the scenes to take care of our mom, day in and day out, on top of your own health struggles. It takes a very special person to not only do that, but do it at 100% like you always do. I can only hope that our boys will see the example you set and take care of me and Jack one day the way you have taken care of Marie! LOL You are always on our minds and we are here for anything you need before and after surgery.

It warms my heart to see more and more traffic on here in support of Frank. We love you, brother! Karma has your back.

Frank, Adrienne is here with me typing my thoughts because I am not technologically savvy in the least. I can't thank you enough for the ways you have and continue to help me every day in any way you can. I am here in North Carolina because of you, have the best medical professionals overseeing and treating my ailments because of you. You take off of work to drive me to all my doctors appointments in Chapel Hill, talk to my doctors and make sure I stay on a healthy regimen to keep my ailments in check. You are there for me any time I need you and most of the time, I know how burdensome I am because I require so much time and attention, but you never complain and always put me first. I can't thank you enough for being everything and more than I can ever ask for in a son. I love you dearly and wish you the very best. I pray for you every day. You are a heaven send!

Hi Frank. I know you've been on the list for 5 and a half years and the wait is usually from 5-6 years. Hopefully, you'll get one soon enough. I want to let everyone know what a HEART OF GOLD you have and you're the nicest person I know! Even though you hardly sleep with the uncomfortable dialysis machine and feel lousy most days, you still fight to work a full-time job and do whatever you can to take care of our sick Mother! Cheers to you, I'm wishing you the very best! I love you! Thank you for being such a wonderful person. I'm so happy I've been blessed with you as my Brother! Love, Adrienne

Donated and best of luck Frank!

Pisses me off that the life-saving drugs are as expensive as they are (especially in the US - I found out they are priced differently according to the country - and it's a shame (and a disgrace) that it's not covered by health insurance - why not?) But things being what they are, I will contribute something to the pot - it won't be a much, but I should be able to add a little something here and there along the way, and hopefully if enough people do that too, instead of thinking of it in terms of a lump sum (unless they're in that enviable position) it will add up to something substantial that could make a real difference for our friend. And Frank's always been such a mensch <3 ! Wishing him every success with the transplant when it happens. Keep us posted. Love to the Vergas. xx

I am praying for you! My father in law just had a heart transplant after 7 1/2 years on the transplant list.
