Since receiving his new kidney, Dan’s overall health has improved greatly. Dan has been able to return to his lifelong work in the human service and mental health field providing services to those in need. Dan works with children and adults helping them to become successful in their communities. This job provides Dan with great contentment and helps him meet his basic needs.
Transplants, however, are extremely expensive, and costs can be devastating. Despite having insurance, many of his medical needs are not covered and must be paid out-of-pocket. Co-payments and prescription drug costs are very high. Dan will need between $20,000 and $30,000 for his lifelong need for his immunosuppressant medications. Also, the expense of traveling to and from the center for regular follow ups will be high. This presents a challenge Dan cannot meet alone.
To help with such expenses, a fundraising campaign in Dan’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Midwest/West Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. For more information, please contact HelpHOPELive at 800.642.8399.
Any support that you feel you are able to provide towards Dan’s expenses is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your kindness.

Two year anniversary of my kidney transplant.
Friends and Family,
It has been two years now since my kidney transplant and I am happy to report that things are going quite well.
Since receiving the transplant the quality of life I have experienced has been a tremendous improvement from that of being on dialysis three days a week, four hours each day.
I am working full-time for and organization that provides services to children and adults with mental health disorders. This work is very rewarding and I am so grateful that I am physically able to do this kind of work. It is a true honor to be able to be a part of other people's lives.
I have also continuously been humbled by being asked to share my story about experiencing Kidney failure and being on dialysis to meeting my donor at church and being completely overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of this wonderful man.
To all of you who have followed my story and sent prayers, support and contributions I wish to thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I am currently working with others to establish more fundraising events that might help me reach my goal and I will keep you all posted on these events.
My prayer for all of you is for good health and happiness in your lives. Gad Bless you all,
Dan Espenoza
