Chuck Nachreiner’s life changed dramatically in July 2003 when he suffered his first heart attack. A short while later a blood clot formed in the implanted stent and he suffered a second heart attack. Not long after this, it was recommended that he have a defibrillator implanted to give him a chance to overcome an unexpected abnormal heart rhythm. In August 2014, a third heart attack lead to a triple by-pass, repair of a hole in his heart and a long continuing recovery from heart failure. He continues to work hard to save his birth heart, but doctors are sure he will need a heart transplant.
Chuck was an outstanding athlete, good friend and our baseball teammate at North Hills High School and went on to star at Marietta College. He was very fortunate to be surrounded by incredible coaches and teammates and realizing they made a difference in his life, he passed those experiences along to others through coaching youth baseball in the North Hills area for almost 10 years. It was important to him to teach life through athletics. Given a chance to further his life through a transplant, he would like to coach again in retirement.
Transplants are lifesaving but financially draining. Even with insurance, Chuck will have many uninsured transplant-related expenses such as: co-pays and deductibles, continued doctor visits and lab testing and the costly immunosuppressant medications that he will need to take for the rest of this life.
To help with the financial burden of Chuck’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in his honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law, are held by Help Hope Live in the Mid-Atlantic Heart Transplant Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for transplant-related expenses only. Please consider making a donation today and click the DONATE NOW button.
Thank you for your prayers, support and generosity. Help Chuck realize his dreams of being with his family and coaching his grandchild. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
Gratefully,
