Healani Keuma (a.k.a) as Lani is only 54 years-old and she is asking for your support. She is suffering from Renal Failure (Kidney Failure ) and needs a lifesaving kidney transplant in order to survive. Since 2010, she has undergone lengthy and time consuming dialysis treatments three days per week, for 3 hours 25 minutes each session. Without a lifesaving kidney transplant, she will continue to need dialysis; these treatments are only temporary and she needs a permanent and lifelong solution through a new kidney.
Healani was born and raised on the island of Kauai, Hawaii in a small town of Kekaha. She has lived there most of her life.
She grew up with both very hard working & loving parents, whom have since passed & five wonderful brothers, and while none of her brothers are able to donate a kidney at this time, She is still actively searching for a perfect match to be able to donate the gift-of-life as a living kidney donor. Although til this day, we still haven’t found a perfect match, she is still actively seeking anyone else who might be interested in giving her a second chance at life in being a living donor. A living donor would expedite a new kidney for Healani and give her a greater chance of survival. On a personal level, Healani has been married for 28+ years to husband Kainoa of Waimea, Kauai, and together they share three beautiful children. Shylen-John, Jalyn and Lokilani as well as 1 granddaughter Tialei whom is now 5 years old which she adores and whom together are committed to seeing their Mother/Grandmother through her transplant. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother she is an admired member of her local Hawaiian Community. Healani is a trained School Health Assistant at Koloa Elementary School and has been employed there for 17+ wonderful years.
A Kidney Transplant is her only hope for a healthier future, but the cost to fund this procedure is monumental and overwhelming.
She is facing large co-pays and deductibles, living expenses, testing fees, and will eventually be required to travel to Oahu / Queens Hospital or to UCSF Hospital in California to receive her transplant. She will need a caregiver, and is required to temporary relocate during her surgery. The costs for travel and lodging are very expensive, and Healani cannot afford her transplant without your support. She is also required to take costly post-transplant medications to stop rejection, and these are needed for the rest of her life.
To help with this financial burden, a fundraising campaign in Healani’s honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law, are held by Help Hope Live in the Southwest Transplant Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for transplant-related expenses only. To make a donation to this fundraising campaign, please click on the yellow DONATE NOW button. For more information, please contact Help Hope Live at 800.642.8399.
Thank you in advance for your Thoughts, Prayers and Generous contribution. Any donation amount is one step closer to a brighter future and better life for Healani and her family.
Gratefully,
Healani’s loving family, The Keuma-Lazaro Ohana and many Friends
