Lisa Beery is only 44 years-old and is in need of a lifesaving heart transplant. For the past three years, Lisa has been struggling with a dilated cardiomyopathy, a condition in which the heart’s ability to pump blood is decreased from an enlarged and weakened left ventricle.
Lisa grew up in Marshall, Missouri and came to Salina, Kansas in 1993, where she met her husband Chuck. Together they have raised two sons, Eli and Noah, who now attend college. Lisa has worked in Children’s Ministry at First Covenant Church for over sixteen years. She enjoys spending time with her family, camping and fishing, gardening, and crafting. Her heart condition keeps her from doing some of these things, but Lisa looks forward to living an active life once again. Together, Lisa and her family are committed to seeing her through her heart transplant.
Lisa’s heart will not heal, and is beyond repair. Lisa’s future is dependent on receiving a new heart. After extensive medical testing, Lisa is now actively listed at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, MO and waiting patiently under the care of the transplant team for her turn for a lifesaving heart transplant. Lisa is one of the kindest people you’d ever hope to meet and now she needs our support. Transplants are life-saving, but financially draining. Even with insurance, Lisa is facing very high expenses including traveling to Kansas City each month, lab fees, co-pays, insurance deductibles, living expenses, and medications. Post-transplant medications to halt rejection will cost upwards of $1,000 per month, and Lisa may be required to temporarily relocate to be closer to the transplant center after her surgery.
To help with the financial burden of Lisa’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in her honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law, are held by Help Hope Live in the Midwest/West Heart Transplant Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for transplant-related expenses only. To make a donation, please click on the yellow DONATE NOW button.
Thank you ahead of time for your thoughts, prayers and generous financial support. We will be planning some special events soon and posting updates regularly.
Gratefully,
Pat Ludwig, Lisa’s sister
