Thank you for your support!
On January 8th, 2019 Scott was blessed with the greatest gift we could have imagined. A member of our amazing community donated a kidney to Scott! We couldn't be more grateful. Scott's donor as made a full recovery and has ran a couple of 1/2 marathons and was an answer to so many of our prayers. We have gotten to know our new family members better in the last year and we love them all. Scott's journey has been a little of a roller coaster ride. His kidney disease FSGS came back into the new transplanted kidney. He did a lot of extra treatments and meds to try to combat it. 15 months later he is so much better off than he was before transplant. Scott went back to working as a full time Fire Fighter and working his own Locksmith business. Numbers are still up and down but he is doing good and is a fighter.
Scott is really the toughest guy I know. He has still been working his full time fire fighter job, running his Locksmith business and going to Dialysis 3 times a week. Needless to say we don’t get to see him much. He does it all without complaining most days when I know it is hard for him to be away so much and he is missing time with the kids. His overall health is up and down. His blood pressure goes way high and he ends up with killer headaches/nausea. After 4 trips to the ER and a week in the hospital in Sept. I’m hoping we’ve turned a corner for the better.
We have been so blessed with willing people to test for Scott. We have probably had over 30 people sign up to donate to Scott. Still no perfect match for Scott but we will get there! We are so grateful for all the love, support and prayers from everyone. We are truly blessed.
Scott has been working towards a transplant now for 2 years. Time has flown by yet been the longest 2 years of our lives. Scott does dialysis 3 days a week now. He is still working full time as a fire fighter and running his locksmith business on the side. He has been so strong and we are hoping to get a transplant soon. We have had so many amazing people test for Scott, but we haven’t found his perfect kidney yet. We are now on the list to do the kidney pairing program, we have a blood type A donor ready and willing but they are not able to donate directly to Scott. We are still looking for a donor for Scott. We will get there!
We are in need of your help.
After 7 months of many amazing people being tested we still have not found a kidney match for Scott. He is on the waiting list but in Utah, that is about 3 years. Much better then some other places that the wait time is about 10 years. Did you know right now there are about 100,000 people waiting for kidney transplants nationwide?
Scott's best option is a living donor. Before Scott has a transplant they will put him on dialysis and remove both of his kidneys, to lessen the chance that his kidney disease will come back. If we have a living donor in place it means he has less time on dialysis.
Scott is a "B" blood type so he can receive a kidney from a "B or an O" donor. They also have a pairing program where an "A" donor could donate to someone that had a "B or O" donor that matched Scott.
Have you ever thought of donating? Would you like more information? If so please go to Intermountainmedcenter.org/organdonor. There is great information on that page. If you consider donating you can start with filling out the kidney donor questionnaire. Somewhere along the way it will ask if you are applying for a specific person, in which you would answer with 'Scott Hofler'.
We have been so blessed by all of your prayers and help so far long this journey. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Love, The Hoflers
Scott's newest test results show his kidney function has dropped again. Not the best news, but he is actually feeling better and has had a little more energy then the last couple of months. They have him on a special diet that is supposed to be easier on his kidneys and he is loving that! Ok maybe not but at least he feels better right? We have some awesome people being worked up to see if they are a match for Scott and can donate a kidney. No definite match yet. Wow is it ever a long process. We are praying that we can get a match soon so we can transplant. If we don't have a match by the end of the year he will probably have to start dialysis.
We are so blessed to have so much support from our family, friends, employers, co-workers, community and even people we haven't had the pleasure of meeting. Thank you all! Thank you for all the prayers on Scott's behalf. I know they are being and will be answered.
Love Ya'll,
Konnie

Scott was diagnosed in 2003 with Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS). His kidney function has decrease to the point now that he is in stage 4 renal failure and in need of a kidney transplant. He is not on dialysis yet and we are praying that he receives a kidney before he has to start but it is not far off.
Scott is married to Konnie and has 4 children. Bailey, Kylee, Ryker and Wyatt. He is a full time firefighter/Advanced EMT for Orbital ATK. He has been on the volunteer fire department in his home town of Mendon for 19 years and is an Asst. Fire Chief. He also runs a Locksmith business on his days off. Scott is a hard worker and does what needs to be done to support his young family. Scott is an outdoorsman. He loves hunting, camping, fishing and riding four wheelers. He loves to spend time with his family and spoiling his kids! And they love being with their Dad. Whether they are playing, fishing, or helping Dad with locks they are happy.

I'd like to get tested to see if I can donate a kidney to Scott. Where do I sign up to start the process of getting the testing done?
M. Kim Nielson
A. Hillyard - Scott is B positive so he can have a B or O donor. There is a link below you can go to and register if you would like. Bless you for being so selfless.
Konnie
Do you know what blood type he is? Is there a way to know or do we just get tested? I'd be happy to see if I can help. I don't know you but that's not important.
A hillyard
Right now my sister is in the process of getting all of the pre donation screenings done to see if she is eligible to donate.
Scott
Here is a link for those wondering about donating a kidney. If interested just fill out the info and they will call and set up screening as needed. They try and keep the number of people being tested to only 2-3 at a time. So it can take awhile to be contacted. Thank you.
