In May 2017, Jesse was transported to Memorial Hermann for Ventricular tachycardia (V-tach or VT) is a type of tachycardia, or a rapid heartbeat that arises from the abnormal electrical activity of the heart presenting as a rapid heart rhythm, which starts in the bottom chambers of the heart, called the ventricles. The ventricles are the main pumping chambers of the heart.
On August 3, 2017, after nearly three months in Cardiac ICU, Jesse was transplanted with the perfect heart after much prayer and fasting from his family and friends all across the United States.
Currently, in 2020, Jesse’s copay for his medical expenses related to his transplant is approximate $316 per month. Jesse is now preparing for post-transplant financial aspects because the cost of a transplant can be financially devastating. Even with excellent insurance, Jesse is facing very high expenses, including co-pays, travel expenses, and permanent housing.
Additionally, since the Leavell’s resident was significantly affected by Tropical Storm and Hurricane Harvey and they suffered mostly everything. Jesse must have medical supplies, equipment as well as an adjustable bed to accommodate his physical disabilities. As of June 14, 2018, the Leavell’s are in need of all new household supplies, relocation expenses, and other related costs, which were never supplied.
With that being said, as of December 27, 2020, to help with the financial burden of the uninsured expenses and other related expenses as well as medical supplies. A fundraising campaign in Jesse’s honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and families for more than 30 years. Also, Jesse was recently in the hospital for two weeks due to an acute exacerbation of a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. An acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, including a sudden worsening of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease symptoms, including shortness of breath. This condition has a negative effect on Jesse’s heart. In addition, some of the Medication for this condition are not covered by his insurance.
All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law, and held by Help Hope Live in the South-Central Heart Transplant Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for transplant-related expenses only. Please consider a contribution.
