Jesse Leavell, Jr is a sixty-five-year-old man who was in fourth stage heart failure who desperately needed a heart transplant. After years of struggling with chronic heart failure, Jesse had a Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) implanted on January 5, 2016. This heart pump was only a bridge to transplant, keeping him alive until a heart becomes available.
In May 2017, Jesse was transported to Memorial Hermann for Ventricular tachycardia (V-tach or VT) is a type of tachycardia, or a rapid heartbeat that arises from the abnormal electrical activity of the heart presenting as a rapid heart rhythm, which starts in the bottom chambers of the heart, called the ventricles. The ventricles are the main pumping chambers of the heart.
