Jamon has been living with kidney disease (glomerulonephritis) for over ten years. The doctors do not know why he developed this disease but because of it, he lives with high blood pressure, swelling, infections, and severe fatigue, just to name a few. The costs associated with treating this disease have been many. Now that Jamon’s kidneys have officially failed, his medical costs are increasing and will continue to do so. Jamon is in need of a kidney transplant and will require the help of his family, friends and community to make it happen.
Jamon graduated from Clearfield High School in 1992 and has been working for RC Willey Home Furnishings for the past 15 years. He currently lives in West Point, Utah.
Even with insurance, there are many out-of-pocket transplant related expenses such as co-pays and deductibles, doctor visits, donor expenses and the costly immunosuppressant medications that Jamon will have to take for the rest of his life to keep the kidney healthy.
To help with the financial burden of Jamon’s uninsured expenses, he may apply to receive assistance from the Help Hope Live Southwest Kidney Transplant Regional Restricted Fund. Help Hope Live is a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law, the property of Help Hope Live and are administered by Help Hope Live for transplant related expenses only. Thank you in advance for your support and generosity.
Jill Smith, Jamon’s sister
On May 1st Jamon received a kidney from his sister April. The surgeries went well and both are recovering at home. Jamon still has a tough road ahead as the first year tends to be a rocky one. Thank you for the prayers, thoughts, donations, and well wishes! Please keep them coming during the healing process. We appreciate you all!
Besides Valentine's Day, today is NATIONAL DONOR DAY! On that note, a bit of good news. Jamon's sister April, has been cleared to donate her kidney. As of now, the surgery is set to take place May 1st. You can still donate and help cover some of the costs associated with this expensive surgery and future maintenance medications.
Well, we were down to the last minute setting a date for Joel to donate a kidney to Jamon, when we found out it was not going to happen. Now we're back to square one, beginning to test the next person in line to look for a match. Jamon is still in need of your help. Any donation is helpful.
Jamon is starting today on expensive weekly injections to help his anemia. This is a sign of his worsening condition. Both of his parents have been ruled out as kidney donors. His brother Joel is currently being evaluated and, for the time being, is looking like a good candidate. Living donor transplantation is an extremely S-L-O-W process to go through, yet the disease process does not slow down. The fatigue and sickness is quite debilitating and depressing. Jamon could use some positive vibes, prayers, letters of encouragement, etc.
Jamon's mom has been ruled out as an acceptable living donor. Now it's on to sibling and friend testing. Thanks to everyone who has donated so far. We really appreciate your help. Our fundraising continues......
Jamon's dad (Jay) has been ruled out as a donor candidate. His mom (Renee) is currently being tested and we are waiting to see if she will be a match.
Thank you to everyone who has donated and helped so far. We are so grateful for you all!
Jamon was officially placed on the active transplant list last month. To become a living donor, please visit www.uofulivingdonor.org and make sure to enter named recipient Jamon Holley, DOB 01/30/1974.
