Daniel Nickel is a young man, a wonderful brother and special uncle who was involved in an accident while we were visiting family in Vermont, July 2016. Daniel sustained a T11-T12 spinal cord fracture with compression. He lost all movement and sensation below his belly button. Dan spent 10 days in the hospital and 30 days in a rehab facility where he slowly regained some movement and sensation in his legs. He is currently working very hard towards a successful recovery.

Daniel graduated from Skyline High School located in Sammamish, WA and went on to work manual labor for a tree limbing service for several years. Just prior to Dan’s accident, he had just moved into a lead role at Northwest Modular, an office furniture company. He had been working for Northwest Modular for just over one year and really enjoyed his new position, the work, and his colleagues. Dan enjoys snowboarding, hiking, and reading and hopes he will recovery to where he can enjoy the snowboarding and hiking once again, and return to the workforce in 2017.

Since Dan’s injury, he has recovered more sensation and movement in his legs and has been working extensively with Pushing Boundaries for exercise therapy and the University of Washington Physical Therapy weekly. With Daniel unable to return to work yet, we are on a quest to make sure Dan has everything he needs to make the fullest recovery possible and to help with his out-of-pocket medical expenses, COBRA premium and the therapy he needs to continue to see results.
