On October 9, 2011 Kraig Krambs was involved in a tragic motorcycle accident which left him completely paralyzed from the chest down. He broke his neck, his back, several ribs and shattered his left rotator cuff. The first few years he suffered many setbacks and complications in which he endured ten surgeries and over a year of hospitalization. We are happy to say those days are behind him.

The past few years, he has been working diligently to recover his lost function with inspiring success. Water therapy, stem cell therapy, physical therapy and energy work are just a few of the modalities he’s utilized to achieve this success. He is now able to feel and control muscles down through his core into his hips, upper and lower legs. Under water, he is able to move his legs quite impressively.

His next step is to strengthen these muscles. There is a machine that he has been prescribed and he is able to purchase that will help him achieve this goal. It is called the RT 300 FES Cycle. As you may have guessed, this is a very expensive piece of medical equipment. New this machine costs over $24,000. Fortunately, he is able to purchase a refurbished cycle for around $17,000. Unfortunately, insurance has denied his claim as well as the appeal. In lieu of this, he has chosen to start a fund raising campaign to help pay for the cycle as well as some other therapies that are not covered. In the near future he plans to undergo several more rounds of stem cell therapy at Solstice Health in Oconomowoc as well as resume physical therapy at Next Steps in Chicago. Next Steps specializes in advanced, aggressive physical therapy for recovering lost function and has had tremendous success getting people back on their feet.
