Since March 2016, Mickey has been in and out of the hospital with Cirrhosis, Hepatitis C, Refractory Ascites and Hepatic Encephalopathy. He is no longer able to participate in any activities of life that he enjoyed so much, like, fishing, hunting, boating and crabbing. He loves spending time with his six beautiful grandchildren.
Mickey needs our help. Transplants are lifesaving but very expensive. Even with insurance coverage, there are many expenses that must be paid out of pocket. Some of these are copays, deductibles, travel to and from the transplant center, relocation at the time of transplant and Mickey will be on a life-time of expensive anti-rejection medications. This is where your help is desperately needed.
To help with the financial burden of Mickey’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in his honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law, are held by Help Hope Live in the Mid-Atlantic Liver Transplant Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for transplant-related expenses only. Thank you for your prayers, support and generosity. Keep an eye on Mickey’s campaign page because we will be planning some fundraising events soon and posting updates regularly.
With sincere gratitude,
Linda Boone-Shanholtz, Mickey’s sister
