Twenty-one-year old Cody Morin has faced medical adversity since birth and today awaits a lifesaving liver transplant. When he was born, doctors determined Cody suffered from liver disease and, at just twelve days old, he underwent his first of many major surgeries. As he grew up, he developed cysts on his liver. It is estimated only 1 in 10,000 people have this issue and only 1 in 20,000 contract biliary atresia. Cody struggled with both. By 16 years of age, he felt so very ill. During that one year alone, he underwent 13 surgeries and the fear of germs prevented Cody from attending school regularly as his immune system was severely compromised. Today, his health has taken a turn for the worse. Cody is battling secondary biliary cirrhosis, congenital biliary atresia and anemia, along with other health issues.
Cody is the father of a beautiful one-year-old son, Cohen and together they reside with Emily, Cody’s fiancée. Cody has two older sisters, Amber and Michelle, and two nephews and one niece. Growing up, was anything but typical for Cody. Dealing with illness and surgeries made it difficult to develop friendships but, he and his now 18-year-old cousin Anthony were very close. If you saw one, the other was not far behind. Anthony was the first to step up to be tested hoping he would be a match for Cody. Unfortunately, after extensive testing, it was determined Anthony could not donate part of his liver. Anthony was devastated but will remain right by Cody until a liver does become available. After all, both young men plan on pursuing a career in Law Enforcement together once this battle is behind them.
Transplants are life-saving but are financially draining. Even with insurance, Cody is facing very high expenses. He receives his medical care in Burlington, Mass which is nearly 100 miles from his home. There are now and will continue to be well after transplant, many trips to Lahey Medical. Besides travel, the anti-rejection medications he will need to take for the rest of his life are enormously expensive. There are co-pays, lab fees and more that total more than Cody can handle on his own. Cody needs your help!
To help with the financial burden of Cody’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in his honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law, are held by Help Hope Live in the Northeast Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for transplant-related expenses only. Please consider a contribution.

Through it all, I see positivity, fear, hope, and most of all, love. Cody has so many people in his life who love him dearly and a son and fiancée who are counting on him. We thank you in advance for your generosity and support.
With sincere gratitude,
Darla Fletcher (Cody’s mom)

Cody had a biliary bag put in on the 20th of March and it is not working so the doctors are going back in tomorrow. The bag is filling with blood but not draining the bile. He is in Boston at Lahey Medical. Prayers please and we are working towards a "Battle of the Bands" benefit and will post info asap.
Cody is still in Boston and the bili bag that was inserted via surgery is filling with blood but not eliminating any bile so they will be going back in tomorrow...prayers please
Hello to all,
Cody is very ill again and heading to the hospital for an evaluation but will most likely be sent to Boston...prayers please and donations welcome and/or fundraising ideas.
Love, Cody's Mom
Unfortunately, on the 18th of October, we were informed that Anthony is not a match so we are back to square one. Anthony is still very much a part of this process and will be at the hospital when the time comes for Cody's transplant. Anthony did a very generous and loving thing in offering to be Cody's donor and we thank him so very much.
Cody is a 21 year old in need of a liver transplant. He was born with a congenital defect and had his first surgery at twelve days of age. After multiple surgeries and illness' in the last few years he has been placed on the active transplant list. His cousin Anthony, eighteen, has recently undergone tests to see if he is a match and if found compatible, he will be Cody's living donor. Cody resides in Saxton's River, Vermont with his girlfriend Emily and their one year old son, Cohen. Cody is planning on pursuing a law enforcement career following his transplant, as is his potential donor, Anthony. Please donate to help these two young men as they endure this painful yet loving journey together.
