Dear Friends, Family and Community,
I was diagnosed with Type I Juvenile Diabetes at age 11. My life drastically changed overnight. I lived on the strictest of schedules, diets, finger sticks and injections. My health continued to decline and in the past 8 years I’ve had 4 eye surgeries, developed rheumatoid arthritis, spent numerous days in the hospital for anemia, pancreatic insufficiency, orthostatic hypotension and various life-threatening conditions. I’ve seen the inside of an ambulance more than anyone my age should. I’m 31 and I am now in end-stage renal failure and on dialysis. My doctors at University of North Carolina hospital have told me that my only option now is a life-saving kidney/pancreas transplant.

So much has transpired over the past year and without going into all of the ugly details, I’ll give you the short & hopefully not so ugly story……. because of being on dialysis for so long, in combination with other health issues, I’ve developed circulation problems (hardening of arteries/calcification)and the blood to my extremeties has been limited at times, however, I’ve undergone several procedures to correct this and I’m seeing much improvement, but an incredible amount of damage has already occured. During the time my extremities were struggling with blood flow, tissue began to die. I have now had a below the knee amputation on my right leg, my left foot is fighting to heal and my fingers are in the dying/self-amputation stage. I need so many things to help me navigate my daily living, but I really need a special power chair and I need fingers! Prosthetic fingers can be approximately $6,000-$10,000 each and the power chair that I need can easily cost $30K & up. Any amount you can give is awesome & so kind of you & I am so appreciative! If you’re not able to help me financially, please share my story and keep me in your prayers. I am in so much constant pain and your prayers would mean the world to me. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you! Love, Heather B.

Hey Squirt: You'll probably guess who this is before you read my name. You've always been Special to me since I first saw you on FB. But the more I know about you, all I can see, is that GOD filled heart of yours'. THAT alone has earned you a CROWN in Heaven, but I'm still praying for God to send that kidney that you so desperately need. I have UN-offiacially adopted you as one of my lit'l girls and as soon as you're well, I'm taking you out for a feast. I'm praying for donations to come in to make this happen, but should someone decide NOT to, and keep on about their business, I know you'll still love them as much as the ones who will. THAT'S your light shining SO BRIGHT. God does that in you. You never fail to use all the energy you can muster to make others smile. <3 ya Munchkin

I am adding you to my prayer list as well as forwarding this to my Bible Babes group. I often take care of patients that are on dialysis and need or have had a kidney transplant. God has laid it on my heart to send support for this amazing need. Lord God, say to this captive, "Come out," and to this child in darkness, "Be free!" Good Shepherd, cause me to find pasture even on every barren hill.(Isaiah 49:9). This is my prayer for you today. May God send you the second best gift ever this Christmas, a donated kidney and pancreas.
