Noah Law, the son of Sharon and Kevin Law of Skiatook Oklahoma, is in need of a liver transplant and needs the help of his community to make it happen.
Noah looks and acts like your typical 6-year-old. However, at 3 months old, he was diagnosed with Biliary Atresia, an incurable liver disease. The doctors performed the Kasai Procedure on him a week after he was diagnosed, but it was just a temporary fix.
In October 2014, Noah started looking jaundiced with yellow skin and eyes. He was taken to St Francis Children’s Hospital where treatment for cholangitis was unsuccessful and they performed exploratory surgery. The surgical findings failed to provide answers, but afterwards, his numbers went back to normal (normal for him) and the jaundice went away. All they could say was that it seemed like moving things around in there got the bile flowing again and everything was stable for a while.
Then he got sick and was admitted to the hospital again in 2015 with cholangitis. Little did we know this was the beginning of a very rocky path for Noah. He was hospitalized with cholangitis several more times in 2015, and then three more times in 2016. Every time he gets sick, his liver gets worse. His GI doctor has decided that now is the time to be listed for transplant.
Transplants are life-saving, but very expensive. Funding this procedure is a monumental task as there will be many medical expenses not covered by insurance. Travel costs alone are adding up to more than Noah’s family can handle on their own.
To help with the financial burden of Noah’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in his honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law, held by Help Hope Live in the South-Central Liver Transplant Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for transplant related expenses only. Your support is critical to the overall success of Noah’s struggle. Please know that your contribution counts. On behalf of Noah and his family, we thank you in advance for your kind consideration.
Gratefully,
Sharon Law, Noah’s mom
