Hearts don’t come any bigger or more loving than that of Stephanie Brown Garcia. She is truly inspirational and has made such a difference in the lives of those around her. She lives as a true believer in faith, a faith that has seen her through challenges and even tragedies life has presented. Today, Stephanie battles end-stage heart failure. She was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy in 2004 and has been dependent on a pacemaker and defibrillator since 2008. However, her doctors have told her she now needs a lifesaving heart transplant.
Stephanie is originally from Upstate New York. When she was 10 years old, her family moved to Riverdale, GA where she graduated from Riverdale Senior High. She went on to work for the commercial real estate firm, Grubb & Ellis where she had a successful career as the Southeast Regional Manager. Her rapidly declining heart function forced her to step down from her job in November 2009 and has rendered her disabled ever since. That same year, Stephanie also endured the tragic loss of her 19-year-old daughter, Danielle. Most would not have the strength and grace to persist but Stephanie did. Today, she lives in McDonough, GA with her husband, Victor, and children, Kevin, Vanessa, Garrett & Gabriella. She has always loved helping at each child’s school and prays that, with a new heart, she will return to good health so she can be active, not only in her children’s lives, but also to help those organizations that give a helping hand to others. Until then, Stephanie needs our help
Despite all the great medical care she has received, Stephanie’s health continues to decline rapidly. She needs a heart transplant immediately but needs our help to get there. Even with insurance, Stephanie is responsible for the copays for the surgery, follow-up doctor visits, and required immunosuppressant medications she will need to take for the rest of her life. The expected out-of-pocket expenses for the first three years will be in excess of $350k.
To help offset Stephanie’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in her honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law, are held by Help Hope Live in the Southeast Heart Transplant Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for transplant-related expenses only. Please consider a contribution.

With all that she has given of herself, it’s time for us to give back to Stephanie, to help her return to the quality of life needed to continue being a wife and mom to four children. Together we can make a difference. Thank you for your prayers, support and generosity.
Gratefully,

For those that know Stephanie personally already know how kind, loving, & forgiving she is. To help everyone else see this first hand, I'm sharing an older blog Stephanie authored during the first two years after tragically losing her daughter, Danielle.

May Gods richest blessings be upon you!

I have five children myself who choose not to see me because of reasons unknown to me. My heart is broken into millions of pieces. When I heard about you on the news, even though your situation is the opposite of mine, somehow I was really touched to want to help. I imagine you have your children in your life, and your children love you with all their hearts, and you love them with all your heart. I guess I want to help you and your family because having children who love you and you love them is a beautiful thing, and I want you to have what I can't right now or maybe ever. I pray that The Lord will provide you all the many you need. I am on a fixed income of a little over $700 a month, but I would like to give you $20 a month. I know it's not much, but combined with other people who give, I pray that it adds up to what you need. In Jesus precious and Holy name I pray, Amen.
