Sarah Needs Your Help

Help Sarah Get Her New Lungs! Sarah Steinhauser is a 24-year old who is in need of a life-saving lung transplant. Sarah has been placed on the transplant list at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and needs our help to raise money for the uninsured medical expenses associated with her surgery, travel/housing, and ongoing care. She is an amazing person who will benefit significantly from this life-saving surgery.

Sarah has been transplanted!!!! Sarah and our entire family cannot thank all of you enough for your donations and support!!! All are helping her to recover in Philadelphia after her lung transplant on November 4. There is no way we could have prepared for this better without all the support of each and every one of you, truly, THANK YOU!!!!

On October 30, Sarah arrived at the Emergency Room of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania due to severe breathing issues. Her carbon dioxide levels hit a critical point, forcing her to go on breathing support to regulate her oxygen levels. However, that was not sustainable, so she endured a medical procedure to put her on another breathing machine which did the trick. In doing so, she was elevated on the lung transplant list as it became critical to do so.

Within two days, donor lungs were found to be a match, and she was transplanted. She had a few hiccups during her recovery, but she toughed it out and was discharged on November 20 to a temporary apartment in Philadelphia as the medical team does not want post-transplant patients far from the hospital for the first few months of recovery.

Again, your donations are assisting with the costs of living temporarily in Philadelphia for a successful recovery, as well as offsetting medical expenses. Thank you all, from the bottom of our hearts, you have made it easier to focus on the 'real' work of recovery vs. worrying as much about the financial end. You all are so special to us, thank you.

Our hearts go out to the donor and his family, we are so grateful for Sarah's gift of life, but also know it comes at a cost. We will never, ever be able to thank them enough for saving Sarah's life, ever.

Also, thanks to all of our medical support - Dr. Bermudez and his staff, Dr. Ahya and his staff, Dr. Cooper and his staff - Sarah's village saved her life, thank you again and again.

Lastly, a very special thank you goes out to Maranda for being the ultimate best friend to Sarah, and all of her support of our family!!

Hi All! First and foremost, THANK ALL OF YOU SO MUCH for your support as Sarah continues to battle her chronic lung disease. Unfortunately, we don't have much new news to report as she continues to remain on the active lung transplant list and try to patiently await her turn. January 2019 will be two years waiting. It's a very frustrating road, but the support of our family and friends means so much to us and keeps Sarah fighting the good fight.

Please keep the positive vibes, notes, emails and calls coming, and we promise to post here as soon as we have new news.

Your support has provided Sarah with portable oxygen equipment that was not covered by insurance, and will help us offset many other expenses related to stay(s) in Philadelphia, insurance, and many other future needs related to her lungs.

Again, you all have no idea how much your support and help means to all of us.

Much love to all of you, and keep those positive thoughts coming our way!!
