Angela Short is 48 years old and is need of a liver transplant. She was first diagnosed in 2008. Since then, she has struggled with medical challenges. A few months ago, they found a tumor in her liver. Her doctor says the only way to get rid of the tumor is to do a transplant.
Angela was born in Yerrington, Nevada, then moved to Colby, Kansas where she lived with her mom, two sisters, and brother. While in the 3rd grade they moved to Catoosa, Oklahoma where they lived with her grandparents. She later moved to San Antonio, Texas in June of 2008, shortly before she was diagnosed with liver issues. She continued to work and soon became the manager of a local fast food chain. In 2009, she moved back to Oklahoma to be close to family and loved ones.
Transplantation is life-saving, and Angela has Medicare to pay for the surgery itself. However, she needs help financing the many uninsured expenses such as costly medications and relocation costs to reside close to the hospital for several weeks. This presents a challenge that Angela and her family cannot meet alone.
To help offset this financial burden, a fundraising campaign in Angela’s honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law, are held by Help Hope Live in the South-Central Liver Transplant Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for transplant-related expenses only. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Donate Now button.
Keep an eye on Angela’s campaign page because we will be planning some fundraising events soon and posting updates regularly.
