My name is Olivia Rounds and I am the proud mother of Angie Ullom. My daughter is need of a stem cell transplant, also known as HSCT.
Angie is a single mother of two. She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) ten years ago, at the age of 31. Since then, the disease has progressed to the point that she can no longer work. MS has taken so much from her everyday life and it’s extremely hard on her.
This past year has been incredibly challenging for Angie and her family – mentally, physically, emotionally, and financially. After years of being on numerous medication regimens, she can no longer take them. Angie is now JC virus positive, so the risk of getting progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML), a typically fatal viral disease, is too high. She’s had 3 relapses this year alone, and her doctors seem unable to help her at this point. Her neurologist said that HCST is Angie’s only hope. After much investigation, she has set her hopes on receiving HSCT at the Clinica Ruiz in Mexico. Together, Angie and her family are committed to seeing her through this transplant. However, this is where we need your help.
A transplant will be life changing, but also financially draining. The Clinica Ruiz team has estimated that her uninsured expenses for HSCT will be $60,000. With that being said, it will include all of her chemo treatments, Nutropin shots, pre-testing procedures, blood work, travel, and lodging expenses. This will also cover all of the medications that Angie will need during this procedure.
To help offset these expenses, a fundraising campaign in Angie’s honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law, are held by Help Hope Live in the Southeast Stem Cell Transplant Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for transplant-related expenses only. On behalf of Angie and her family, thank you in advance for your kind consideration.
Gratefully,
Olivia Rounds
