This is my dear husband, Charles Lee Floyd, and our precious grandchildren, Braxton and Rose. Charles grew up in Valley, Alabama, where he eventually worked in the local mill. We married and raised our daughter, Kristie, in Salem, and now have the privilege and joy of watching her two children grow. In his spare time, Charlie loves to fish, watch baseball, and play with Braxton and Rose.
Unfortunately, Charlie has been suffering from end stage kidney and liver disease for many years. This disease has already taken away his kidney function and is also now taking away his liver function. His doctors have decided that his only chance for survival is a liver and kidney transplant. Charlie is currently on the waiting list at Emory Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, where he is considered a good candidate for this transplant surgery.
This all brings us to the purpose of this letter. Not only is this transplant a major surgical procedure, but it is very expensive and insurance will not cover all the costs. There will be travel expenses, as well as medications and co-pays for the rest of Charlie’s life. To help offset some of these costs, a fundraising campaign has been established in Charles’ honor through HelpHOPELive for his uninsured transplant-related expenses. HelpHOPELive is a non-profit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for over twenty-five years. Please consider making a tax-deductible contribution to help Charlie.
