Steve Parker is a 62-year-old man who is in need of a heart and kidney transplant. After leading a healthy lifestyle he was diagnosed at 40 with Congestive Heart Failure. In 2012, he found out that he had kidney failure. After years of struggling to keep his body healthy he was placed on a waiting list for a new kidney and is being evaluated to be put on the heart transplant list. Steve has always worked to help support his family and now it’s our turn to help him. The cost of a heart/kidney transplant can be VERY overwhelming.
Steve was born in 1954 in Forks, Washington and is the oldest of five children. At age five in 1959, Steve with his parents and siblings moved to Carlotta, California. He graduated from Fortuna High School in 1972. Throughout his life he became a father to 6 children. Most know Steve through his long career in truck driving for local log and lumber companies. His diagnoses of Congestive Heart Failure and Kidney Failure him into retirement. He is unable to work. Together, Steve and his family are committed to seeing him though his transplant journey.
The transplant journey is life saving but financially draining. Even with insurance, Steve is facing very high expenses including relocation to be closer to Stanford Healthcare, post-transplant medications, co-pays, travel and more. His fundraising goal is $50,000.
To help with the financial burden of Steve Parker’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in his honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Southwest Heart/Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Please consider a contribution.
