Hi, my name is Crystal Freeman and I’m asking for a few minutes of your time to tell you my story. I am a 27-year-old Punta Gorda, Florida resident. My life is a good life filled with the love of my beautiful six-year-old daughter Brianna and my boyfriend of over two years. However, in 2010, I was diagnosed with severe cardiomyopathy and congestive heart failure. Over the years, my health continued to decline. I am now to the point where I need a lifesaving heart transplant to survive and I need your help to make that happen. My doctors at Tampa General Hospital have placed me on the heart transplant waiting list. Until a match is found for me an LVAD (left ventricular assist devise) is keeping my heart pumping. As you can imagine, the costs associated with transplantation are overwhelming.
Currently, my boyfriend, Brianna and I are living with his mom until our little family can afford our own home. This dream seems a far way off when I think of the medical bills that have been mounting. A few years ago, I was in a car accident that left me without a vehicle making doctor visits a struggle. I live an hour and a half away from Tampa General, 400 miles round trip. My own family is not in a position to help. Thankfully my father is in remission now, but his health was compromised from his battle with lung cancer and, sadly, I lost my mom to a heart aneurysm just five days before my sixth birthday. Despite these hardships, I am determined.
Transplants are lifesaving but financially draining. Even with Medicare coverage, there are co-pays and deductibles. The post-transplant anti-rejection medications alone are enormously expensive and these are needed for the rest of my life. Other costs include travel, tolls, parking, and relocation closer to the transplant center for me and my caregiver. This presents a challenge I cannot face alone. I need your help.
A fundraising campaign in my honor has been established to help with this huge financial burden through Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law, and are held by Help Hope Live in the Northeast Liver Transplant Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for transplant-related expenses only. Please consider a contribution.

Despite the setbacks I’ve faced in my life, I feel blessed to have the love of my daughter and boyfriend. I desperately want to be here to see my little girl grow up, go through all life has to offer her and continue to grow as mother and daughter. Please know that your contribution counts.
With sincere gratitude,
Crystal Freeman
