Those who know Joshua “Mata” Aulava (41) may know him as a man of many talents with an ethereal voice and a gift for playing several instruments from the guitar to the piano to the Tahitian drums. Still, Mata is much more than a light that shines through his musical capabilities. He is a man who has a heart of gold with a great capacity to love and has always given of himself to those around him. He is a great son, brother, husband, father, and friend. Mata, who has given so much strength and love to others, now finds himself in need of our strength and support.
In January 2016 Mata was diagnosed with kidney failure which took his family by complete surprise. Through much faith and prayers from family and friends, miraculously, Mata has been given a second chance at life! Mata has been approved for transplant by his doctors at the University of Utah and he has a live donor who is willing to donate his kidney. However, there is still more to this story.
Transplants are lifesaving but very expensive. Funding this lifesaving procedure is a monumental task, as there will be many medical expenses not covered by insurance: co-pays, anti-rejection medications Mata will need to take for the rest of his life, travel expenses from across the country and more. To his wife and three young children it is an enormous blessing to have the opportunity for a kidney transplant but funding it will be a load heavier than they can bear alone.
To help with the financial burden of Mata’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in his honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law, are held by Help Hope Live in the Southwest Kidney Transplant Regional Restricted Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for transplant-related expenses only. Please consider a contribution.

Your contribution means more than you know. It will mean being there to see his daughter dance at her recitals and seeing his eldest son play sports. It means being there when his son gets baptized this summer. It means getting to see his children live their childhood. It means hope.
Thank you for your support and love and for helping Mata with a second chance at life. Keep an eye on Mata’s campaign page at www.helphopelive.org because we will be planning some fundraising events soon and posting updates regularly.
Gratefully,
Malachi (10), Elijah (7), Jeanette (5), Jeané and Mata Aulava

I know you dont know me cuz but our Aulava blood runs deep in us! That is how we were raised by our Grandparents and our parents. We know its not much but we believe that God will provide and fulfill all that is needed for this treatment your planning for.
