We are writing to you on behalf of Rachel Fuentes. Rachel is the wife of Rafael, mother of Emilia (13) and Thomas (10)… daughter, niece, aunt, cousin and good friend to many.
This past December, Rachel was severely injured in a rear end automobile crash and she suffered traumatic brain injury. She has a long, difficult road ahead of her as she tries to regain mobility, speech and independence. She is currently undergoing extensive rehabilitation therapy at The Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
Even with medical insurance there are many expenses that will be incurred and will have to be paid for out of pocket. Some of these are modifications to her home to make it wheel chair accessible, home health care and additional rehabilitative therapy. This puts us up against a challenge that we cannot meet alone during this difficult time.
To assist with these expenses, a fundraising campaign in Rachel’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive (formerly NTAF), a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for nearly 30 years. In 2000, they expanded their mission to include those who have sustained a catastrophic injury. All contributions are tax deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Southeast Traumatic Brain Injury Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for injury-related expenses only. Please consider making a donation:Your support is crucial! A fundraising committee has been formed and we are planning several exciting and fun events. Any ideas or help you can give is welcomed!
In spite of the many struggles that she faces, Rachel remains hopeful that she will be able to return to a productive life at home and the community through the support of family and friends.
We thank you in advance for your generosity, support and prayers.
