Oscar Ramos, the son of Angela Herren of Bethany, Oklahoma is in need of a kidney transplant and needs the help of his community to make it happen. Transplants are life saving but VERY expensive.
At birth, 10-year Oscar, was diagnosed with Post Urethral Valves, (PUV). PUV means that Oscar was born with extra flaps of tissue that grew to his urethra, (the tube that leads from the bladder to the tip of the penis). The extra flaps of tissue blocked the normal flow of urine, which in Oscar’s case caused him to have hydronephrosis (reflux of the kidneys). With the combination of the PUV and the hyrdonephrosis, his bladder and kidneys have taken a hard hit. Oscar has received bladder augmentation and reconstructive surgery to repair the damage made to the bladder and urethra, in preparation for a kidney transplant.
Oscar enjoys playing basketball, football, playing and just being outside, jumping on the trampoline with his sisters and dog. However, with his kidney function being low, there are days he just lays in beds, sleeps, plays his video games or watches a movie. He is missing out on being a carefree, tree climbing, football playing little boy. At this time Oscar’s only chance to return to good health and have the life he ‘so desperately’ wants and needs is through a kidney transplant.
Oscar’s family is seeking living donors from family and friends that have stepped up and willing to be tested to see if they are a possible match. If these donors do not match up Oscar will be receiving a deceased donor. But, funding this life changing and saving procedure is a monumental task as there will be medical expenses not covered by insurance, not to mention unpaid time off work for his mother.
Family and friends of Oscar Ramos are raising money to pay for uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.
Oscar has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility to the full extent allowed by law for donors. Donors can be sure that funds donated will be used only to pay or reimburse medically-related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Donate Now button.

Thank you for your support!
Lil O, you have been a big miracle in a small body since the day you were born. You have accomplished much that your mother was told you would never do. And in spite of your many challenges throughout your life, you remain the sweet, loving, beautiful, smart, playful, talented boy that you are. You have brought many smiles and laughter to those who know and love you.
And although you have many more challenges to meet and beat, both now and in the future, your bravery, determination, energy, enthusiasm, and love of life, with the blessings and protection of our benevolent Creator and the love and support of family and friends, will sustain you as you successfully make your way through these trying times.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family always.
Mari Buckley
Oscar, you have been on my heart this past school year and have remained there throughout summer break. Continued prayers that you receive the kidney you need and a full recovery there after. May God keep you always in His care and heal you fully and completely. Your playground teacher, Ms Dena
