My name is Jennie Tumminello. In January of 2010, I was diagnosed with polycystic kidney and liver disease. I have since received a successful liver transplant. Unfortunately, due to the nature of my illness, I now need a kidney transplant.
I grew up as part of a wonderful loving family who prided themselves on the protestant work ethic: work hard and get ahead. I incorporated this into my belief system, earning my bachelor’s degree and working for several high-ranking corporations since I was 18 years old. As an accomplished professional, I proudly launched my own insurance and investment practice. Unfortunately, the realities associated with my illness have presented a significant challenge.
Transplantation is life-saving, but financially draining. As I strive to maintain independence as a successful business owner, I am consumed by worry and financial fear. I am proud to not be a recipient of disability insurance proceeds, but like others, have significant medical expenses including deductibles, co-pays, and prescription costs that are difficult to meet. I also require a lot of expensive dental work prior to receiving my new organ.
To help with the financial burden of uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign has been established in my honor with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to help patients and families in need for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law and are held by Help Hope Live in the Mid-Atlantic Kidney Transplant Fund in my honor. Donations are allocated by Help Hope Live based on financial need for medical expenses. Please consider making a donation.

Reflecting on my professional career, I am humbled and proud to have served over 2000 clients with dedication and personalized attention. At 54-years-old, I have many successful years ahead of me where I can support the needs of families and individuals. With the gift of a new kidney, I look forward to continuing my mission to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
Thank you in advance for your ongoing support and encouragement.
With gratitude,
Jennie Tumminello
I recently received a liver transplant due to PKD disease. I am currently seeking the input of NYU Langone Hospital for an evaluation of my kidneys in preparation for the likeliness of a kidney transplant. Prior to my liver transplant, I was a successful professional in the community banking industry. I had insured myself appropriately but unfortunately, the surgeon misspoke and put an end to my disability insurance funding.
Thank you NYU for starting the kidney listing process. I am eager to complere the few nexessry tests however i am concerned creatly with uncovet medical costs. Id like to host an active campaign 11.16 through 12.1.this year. How do i obtain support
Jennie Tumminello
I have never met such a strong, hardworking, selfless individual like Jennie.
She always did above and beyond for me and my family, even after my mom died.
I don't think needing a second transplant will stop her now. I wish Jennie continued success and the opportunity to share her message of hope. She has encouraged me during times of sorrow and negative self worth.
