My name is Phil Martin and I am 30 years old. I am married to my lovely wife Megan and am the father of 3 beautiful kids ages 6, 4 and 3. While only 6 months since diagnosis of MS, my symptoms have rapidly progressed from initial blindness in my left eye, to arm/hand weakness, memory shortages, pain and fatigue. I have been seeing a neurologist who has me on several expensive drugs, but they are all failing. When I tried to pick up my 3-year-old one night and was unable, I knew it was time to take a stand!
I am fundraising for a revolutionary procedure called HSCT (Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation). HSCT is a month-long procedure of chemotherapy which erases one’s faulty immune cells. After the immune system is erased, my undifferentiated stem cells free from the disease, are transplanted from my spinal column populating a new immune system free from defect. HSCT treatment has cured/stopped MS progression for close to 80% of all patients. While considered experimental in the United States (currently in Phase III clinical trials), the procedure is over 20 years old, and is now used in many countries including: Spain, England, Italy, Germany, Mexico, Russia, Israel, Canada, and many Scandinavian countries.
Recent research shows the procedure is most effective in young and early-diagnosed patients. Unfortunately, the United States clinical trial is only open to those with later stage progression, with FDA approval many years away. With years not on my side I am fundraising $60,000 to have the procedure done at a world-renowned facility in Mexico. The Mexico facility has been conducting the procedure for over 20 years to stop various hematological and autoimmune diseases, and has received awards from leading organizations such as Mayo for their research and impact.
To help with the financial burden of uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign has been established in my honor with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to help patients and families in need for more than 30 years. All donations are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law and are held by Help Hope Live in the Northwest Catastrophic Illness Fund in honor of Phil Martin. Donations are allocated by Help Hope Live based on financial need for medical expenses. Please consider making a contribution today.

Thank you for any help you can offer.

There are not words for me to say how thankful I am for everyone's support! Thank you!!! Previously my goal did not account for HelpHopeLives administrative fees, or the 5 post HSCT infusions I have upon my return to the US. With Megan's most recent breast cancer diagnosis, I have increased the goal slightly to account for these variables. Thanks for everyone's love and support!
Hi! I am so sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I am happy that there are alternative treatments though that you are able to try!! I wanted to let you know about a book that has helped me tremendously. It is called The Wahls Protocol by Terry Wahls, MD. She reversed her MS through a strict diet. I am not trying to give pat answers. I have a muscle disease and have been able to see a lot of progress using these principles. I hope your treatment in Mexico works!!
