My name is Kim Blalock and I am a 44 year old single mom with stage 5 renal disease. I have only 10% kidney function left. At 19 years of age, I was diagnosed with diabetes. For that reason, I have been sickly all of my life and have a number of medical problems that stem from complications from this disease- everything from fibromyalgia to gastroparesis. In spite of this, I do not let my illnesses control my life, they are just a part of my journey.
I love life! I enjoy traveling, cooking and, most of all, helping other people. I love going to the movies with my daughter, going on girls’ trips with my friends and volunteering at the local schools and in the community. These are all things that I plan to do again once I receive a new kidney and pancreas. Health problems may have slowed me down but not stopped me. I am working stay as healthy as I can so I can be in the best possible shape when I get the call for my transplant.
Transplants are lifesaving but financially overwhelming. I did not realize all of the cost that would go into saving my life. Even with insurance there are out-of-pocket expenses that include hospital bills, lab work, travel to and from the center and anti-rejection medications I will need to take for the rest of my life. This is why I am reaching out to family, friends and my community. This is a challenge I cannot face on my own. I need your help.
To help with the financial burden of the uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign has been established in my honor with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to help patients and families in need for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law and are held by Help Hope Live in the South-Central Kidney/Pancreas Transplant Fund in honor of Kim Blalock. Donations are allocated by Help Hope Live based on financial need for medical expenses. Please consider making a donation today.

I want to thank you for taking the time to read my story and to help me in my transplant experience. Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
With sincere gratitude,
Kim Blalock

I am truly grateful to everyone for their time. donations and most of all your Prayers. I couldn't do it without YOU. Thank you so much!!
Well today is the big day! My first fundraiser. I hope to see you all out there.
Yesterday was a good day. I found out I got put back on the LIST. Nuerology cleared me for my blockage in my head. I found out that My friend Marcella Lopez got a call back from the transplant team for screening. There is hope out there for everyone. Stay strong people we are going to make it!!
It's really late and my legs are cramping up so bad that I can't sleep. People just don't understand how my kidneys and pancreas failing affects my whole body. Being sick and in pain everyday. You don't want anyone's pity but you would like just a little compassion. I would love a day with out it feeling sick and being in some form of pain. Opening this page up and seeing how the donations are going doesn't make anything better. It just adds to the stress of it all.
awaiting my appointment with neurology to get this clearance for this blockage in my head. I go Friday 09/08/17 and I trust in God that everything will be alright. God is good all the time. All the time God is good!!
I found out today they are going to put me on the transplant list. I am so excited. I really have to try to get some help now. I am going to have so many expenses. I need to have my dental work done so I can transplant and keep loosing this weight. I am so glad I have so many positive people working at the hospital and in my life to help me thru this process. I have faith that help is out there. Everyone be blessed!
08-04/5-2017...... today was a rough day it's been a couple of days since I've been able to void and my creatinine is raised up and the doctor sent me to the emergency room my legs are swelling it was just a really rough day. I got to the emergency room for their doctors to send me back home with no treatment, people just don't understand how exhausting all of this is I just wish that I could get help and be better.
08/02/17 I am waiting to have this test do, u hope my kidneys don't tank with them shooting this contrast into me. I hope they are able to find access in my arms cuz I really don't want this port in my chest. Well God's going to take care of me.
07/31/17 I am not excited about my appointment tomorrow. I hope that they are going to be able to find some access points for this port for the dialysis. I just feel like I'm at the doctors every day all day. I really hope that I can transplant before I have to start dialysis. I'm just so scared of dialysis.
I went to a listing appointment on 7/24/17, I am hoping to get listed and not have to go on Dialyses. I went on 7/26/17 to a consult appointment in reference to getting my Dialyses port put in my arm. I am scheduled for 08/11/17 to have the port surgery.Everyday is a challenge but we all have to keep our heads up as we wait for transplant.
