David Snow was diagnosed with non-alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver in January 2017. Since then his liver has continued to fail at a fast pace. Doctors at Carolina Medical Center have estimated he has approximately 5 years to live without a liver transplant. Though lifesaving, the cost of a transplant can be very overwhelming.
David is a 55-year-old husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother. He is a retired firefighter, paramedic, and deputy sheriff. He is also a deacon and active church member at Bear Creek Baptist Church in Mocksville, NC. Together, David and his family are committed to seeing him through this transplant.
Transplants are life-saving but financially draining. Even with insurance, David is facing very high expenses including testing costs, co-pays, and deductibles, just name a few. Additionally, he will be out of work for 6-9 months following the transplant surgery. This presents a challenge that David and his family cannot meet alone.
To help with the financial burden of uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign has been established in honor of David Snow with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community based fundraising guidance to help patients and families in need for more than 30 years. All donations are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law and are held by Help Hope Live in the South-Atlantic Liver Transplant Fund in honor of David Snow. Donations are allocated by Help Hope Live based on financial need for medical expenses.

On behalf of David and his family, thank you for your prayers, support, and generosity.
Starting to see much improvement as time goes by. We have now managed to stay out of the hospital for 3 weeks. David has gotten his appetite back and starting to gain strength as well.
David was sent back to CMC on the 19th because his liver enzymes were elevated again. This time it wasn't rejection but a blocked bile duct. Did surgery last night to correct the problem and hope to go home later today. The accomadations this time have been terrible as all of the beds are filled. We have been in the overflow area which is a recovery unit with only curtains as walls.
Back at CMC being treated for rejection. Praying new meds work, but the cost keeps going up and the household bills still need paying.
Thursday morning, November 9 we received the call that they had a liver for David. After going through most of the prep work we found out that it was not a good liver for David. They send us home.
Sixteen hours later we were called back to CMC for another try and it was a good liver for David. They just took him back for the surgery at 1:30 pm on 11/11/2017. It will take approximately 7-9 hours.
Thirteen hous later David had a "beautiful " new liver.
He came out of surgery at 2:30 this morning 11/12/2017. He will be in ICU for 2-3 days. The doctors and nurses are amazed at how well he is doing. He was awake earlier and they plan on getting him up walking around later today.
We are officially in the #1 position. Waiting for a call anytime.
David has non-alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver and is on the list for a new liver. The amount for co-pays and deductibles for all of the doctor visits and testing is adding up and we don't have a liver yet. Thanks for any help you can offer.
The worse is behind you. Hang in there!
