Joe Walker “Joey” is a 62 year old Navy Veteran who was diagnosed with end stage liver disease in December 2016.
On December 23rd 2016, Joey was in ICU on a ventilator for 6 days, in a coma, and was not expected to make it. By the grace of God, he made it through that, but has had several hospital stays since.
Joey has issues with extreme fatigue and short term memory loss now and is unable to do the things that he loves, like walking his two dogs Bear and Riley, working out, going to dinner and a movie. There are some days that he cannot be left alone and I need to stay home from work.
Joey has been working very closely with Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville Fl and has met all the requirements for liver transplant , except one. Mayo Clinic will not list him for transplant until we have raised at least $7-10,000 dollars to cover the cost of uninsured after care (30 day stay on Mayo Clinic Campus after hospital discharge, time off work for his Wife Patricia, who will need to stay with him 24/7 in the event of rejection complications, house payments, gas groceries, utilities, anti rejection medicine, car payment, co-pays , pet care for Bear and Riley).
I am a Nurse and have been trying to work and take care of Joey as best as I can. We need your help to get Joey his liver transplant, post transplant care, and to get Joey back to living his life again.
Thank You for your prayers, love and support
Gratefully,
Patricia Walker, Joey’s wife of 15 years.

Thank you for your support!
Joey still has a positive attitude. We just know that we will raise the funds needed to get on the transplant list
I asked him a while back what was the first thing he wanted to do after his surgery. He said " I want a big roast beef sandwich " I told him that we will have that for him. He can not eat red meat right now , as the liver can't handle it. He is so tired of chicken and turkey.
He also wants to go kayaking, hiking, and go back to the gym.
Come on everyone! Let's make this happen !!!
Joey is looking forward to the holidays, as he missed Thansgiving, Christmas and New Years last year due to hospital stays .
Had to take Joey to ER at Florida Hospital Flagler on Thursday night. Horrible abdominal pain. The ER staff was great, and got him out of pain. We will follow up with his GI this week. Poor guy. He is so tired of being sick. We need this transplant to happen soon.
He is getting weaker and more tired now.
