As a quadriplegic with no movement in his legs and limited mobility in his arms, Kevin is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta. He is working hard in physical, occupational, and respiratory therapies in hopes that he will be able to return to an independent and productive life.
With the help of family and friends, Mary is preparing to modify the home in order to make it wheelchair accessible, which is no small feat! They will also need to purchase a modified van, in hopes that Kevin will one day be able to drive. Unfortunately, home modifications, the van (which can be as much as $65,000), and additional therapy are not covered by insurance.
To help offset such expenses, a fundraising campaign in Kevin’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. In 2000, they expanded their mission to include those who have sustained a catastrophic injury. All contributions are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Southeast Spinal Cord Injury Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for injury-related expenses only.
We are planning a fundraising event for Spring 2014 and could certainly use your creativity and time. Please email [email protected] or [email protected] to volunteer. Thanks so much for any help that you can give to our family!
Sincerely,
The Arthur Family
Mary, Kevin, Sarah, Teresa and Kevin Patrick

Kevin, there are many reefs out there that still need your exploring, there are many skies still waiting for you to gaze upon them. We are always looking forward to when you and Mary will come down to good ol' Florida and come sailing with us. As always, mi casa es su casa.
