David Vintinner is a 58-year-old man who is very ill. After years of struggling with acute COPD, a double lung transplant is his only chance for survival. We’re asking family and friends to join us in fundraising for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to help with critical transplant-related expenses.
Since being diagnosed with this chronic lung disease, David has dedicated himself to being as healthy as possible, including quitting smoking. Despite all his efforts, he still struggles with everyday health issues. He desperately wants this transplant so he can spend the rest of his life with his loved ones. He can’t wait to get outside and enjoy life with his family and friends like he did before getting sick.
Transplants are life-saving, but financially draining. Even with health insurance, many transplant expenses are not covered. In addition to medical and pharmaceutical costs, David will face significant travel and lodging expenses as he lives in Maine but his transplant will take place in Boston. This present a challenge that David and his family cannot meet alone.
Donations to Help Hope Live can help ease the financial burden of a transplant, thus allowing David to focus on a healthy recovery.
Make a donation right now by clicking on the Give button or by calling 800.642.8399. Donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law, and all funds raised will be used to offset medical expenses as part of the Northeast Transplant Fund.
Help Hope Live is a national nonprofit that specializes in engaging communities in fundraising campaigns for people who need a transplant or are affected by a catastrophic injury or illness. Since 1983, campaigns organized by Help Hope Live have raised over $131 million to pay patient expenses.

Hello David. I wanted to touch base with you. You are in my prayers. As you know Jim is struggling too. I am thankful he quit smoking when he did but after briefly meeting your Dad I can see this disease seems to run in your family and also pray your other siblings quit as soon as they can. I know it\'s hard. I know your lungs can also be affected by other things such as asbestos. I have a friend struggling with lung cancer now. What we didn\'t know did hurt us. It\'s all very sad. God Bless and take the best care of yourself you can. I will help when I can...
