On June 11, 2017 Paul was paralyzed while helping his best friend build an extension on his home for his expanding family. Paul fell from a height of about 20 feet and landed on his back, his spinal cord making contact with a hard clay mound. Paul's vertebrae was shattered and he knew as soon as it happened he was paralyzed.
