Over the past years when you saw Minnie or pictures of her she looked pictured perfect. No one knew what her body was going through daily. She was always joking and keeping others laughing with her crazy remarks, but she also knew how to be a great friend when needed and a great listener no matter what she was going through.
Minnie’s life was turned upside down after being diagnosed in 2002 with end-stage emphysema and COPD. Over the years her disease has worsened to the point her Pulmonary Doctor referred her to Tampa General’s Lung Transplant Center for a lung transplant evaluation. After three long intense days of evaluation Minnie was approved to be listed on the Transplant List for a bilateral transplant.
Minnie is a loving mom, aunt, sister, NeNe & NaNi. She is a beautiful person inside and out. An individual that would give her last if someone needed it. She has a big heart, always putting others first. Her passion was working with troubled teens as a Caseworker and as a Juvenile Detention Officer. She also had the privilege of working as a Training Instructor with the Transportation Security Administration after 911, but as her health deteriorated over the years her doctors informed her she could no longer work, but being the strong headed individual she is she actually worked 4 more years after the doctor informed her it was time to call it quits.
As we wait on the call that a matching donor has been found, Minnie is asking for our help. Transplantation and follow-up medications, treatments, transportation and a caretaker are very expensive. Even with Medicare coverage, there are co-pays and deductibles and clinic visits. The cost could top $6000
If we all work together we can give Minnie the gift of quality of life that she so deserve. Please click on the link under Minnie’s picture.

On April 29,2019 I received a call informing me that a possible match for two lungs had been matched for me. I received my bilateral lungs that night. I had a rough start but now there is no stopping me. My life has changed drastically. I’m doing things I would never done a year ago. I’m still healing but while I’m healing I’m thinking about what I want to do with this second part of my life that the Lord has blessed me with. I never would have dreamed this day would come especially only being on the transplant list 2 months. God is good!!! I thank everyone that contribute to my Campaign I appreciate you all and may God continue to Blessed you.
Still in the process of getting on the Transplant List. My last appointment August 8, 2018 didn't go as well as I wanted it to go. Due to my steroid intake I gained a few pounds doctors wants me to lose 20lbs. I was not a happy individual I was so overwhelmed I just wanted to throw in the towel and give up, but after stepping back and thinking about what he was saying I understood what my Doctor was trying to say to me. Lose the weight so the potential lung will not feel like extra weight and may cause my body to reject it. So far 10lbs down.
Had a Pet Scan done early May which came back abnormal two nodules had grown so now I have to wait til August and have a CT Scan done and everything is ok which I know and I am already claiming I will be on the Transplant List when I leave my appointment on August 6 2018.
Had my appt yesterday which was suppose to be the last part of my evaluation before activating me in the lung Transplant electronic list. Well now I have to wait due to my arm is in a sling from shoulder surgery I have to wear it for two more weeks. I also have to more test I have to complete since I have a history of DVT so I have to have a Doppler on both legs and I have to get my BMI down. So I'm ok with this God has a reason for everything he does. So when he says I'm ready the doctor will know I'm ready. Keep me in prayer my friends. Love you all for supporting me.
Currently recovering from right shoulder replacement that was performed last Thursday. Transplant Surgeons made the decision for me to proceed with the procedure since the shoulder was in such bad condition. Physical Therapy starts Tuesday
My niece Tatyanna held an awesome jewelry fundraiser last night in my honor I was so proud of her. A couple of the guest bought me a couple of pierces. I told them I'll be the operating room DIVA!!! ALL DOLL UP!!
Thank you so much for those who have donated to my need. Love you all.
Heading to Lung Rehabilitation Therapy 3x a week to strengthen my endrance. It's a struggle but I'm pressing through it. Thanks everyone for your prayers and support. Valorie P. & Tracy J love you my friends.
This is why I'm fighting for my life the bond and love I have for all of my grandbabies, my children, my nieces and nephew as well as my great nieces and nephews, who has been there for me. I thank God for his Mercy and Grace that kept me as I went through the 3 days of agonizing and painful tests cry wanting to give up because I felt my body couldn't take much more. My supporters were there to remind me why I was doing this. All my tests were normal so I am approved for the bilateral Lung Transplant.
