Many of you know my loving husband, Tim Gilson. Tim is the wonderful father of our children Tyler (14) and Taryn (9). He is an amazing man who has made everyone laugh and smile at least once. What you may not know is that last year Tim was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis and Pulmonary Hypertension. Tim’s health declined rapidly and his doctors at Stanford University Medical Center told us that his only option now was a life-saving lung transplant.
I am thrilled to tell you that Tim has received the gift of life. He received his life-saving double lung transplant on March 11th.
You may be asking yourself, since Tim already received his transplant, what are we fundraising for? The answer is simple. Even with insurance there are many expenses not covered and must be paid out of pocket. Stanford required that Tim be within 45 minutes of the hospital for the first 3-4 months post-surgery. We have now have relocation expenses, nursing care for Tim once he leaves the hospital, doctor visits, co-pays, deductibles and Tim will be on a lifetime of anti-rejection medications. This is where your help is desperately needed.
To help with this financial burden, a fundraising campaign in Tim’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive (formerly NTAF), a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for nearly 30 years. All donations are tax deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Southwest Lung Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only.
