Dan and I (Susan) are married, with two daughters, and three grandchildren.

Ten years ago Dan received a new liver as Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis had so severely damaged his liver that a transplant was the only means of survival. For 7 years he was disease free and enjoying life. However, the PSC returned 3 years ago and, again, a transplant is the only “cure”. On top of needing a new liver, he also will require a kidney as HIS have taken a beating over the last 3 years due to chronic infections of his liver. Life is a struggle for Dan. The PSC leaves him more exhausted than the day before and in constant pain. At times he is unable to keep food down, is unable to think clearly and gets incredibly itchy from head to toe unable to find relief. Besides countless hospitalizations, we have to go to the Cleveland Clinic at least monthly for tests, appointments and procedures. Occasionally we have had to stay for several days at a time. And when it comes time for transplant, we will have to be in Cleveland for several weeks.
