It has been more than two months since Kellie donated to Hans the gift of life, a kidney. They have both done remarkably well, praise God. The surgery was harder on Kellie than on Hans. Hers was more invasive. Hans' failing kidney was not removed and Kellie's kidney was placed near his bladder, rather than where kidneys are naturally located. Additionally, Hans went to the hospital anemic and was given two units of blood, and Kellie left the hospital anemic because they did not give her any blood. Kellie had the pain of the air that was blown into her during surgery as it worked its way out during the lowing weeks. That was not an issue with Hans. Kellie went back to work after three weeks and Hans plans to return to work soon. He continues to have blood drawn twice/week so they can tweek his meds if needed. They have been able to reduce his immuno-suppressant drugs twice, which is good. Although they told us that it isn't unusual for transplant patients to be hospitalized 2-3 times during the first year, Hans has been able to stay well so far! We appreciate all of the pray warriors during this process and we treasure your continued prayers. May God bless you as he has blessed Hans and Kellie!

Hans continues to have good weekly check-ups to the OSU Transplant Center and Kellie will go for her 4-week check-up next week. We thank you so much for your support, especially your prayers!
