“I need help as I strive to achieve my goal. I will need physical therapy, adaptable home improvements, alternative therapies, a modified car so that I can retain some of my independence, ext… For that I will need to raise funds for those items and things I haven’t even thought about yet. Help is so greatly appreciated.”- Jan 2018
So it’s been almost a year since the snowboarding accident on January 11th 2018. One year of learning to live life in a wheelchair, learning doing simple everyday tasks, and most importantly teaching my legs how to stand/walk again. I have made great progress in this time, but there is definitely a long was to go still. My whole life drastically changed. I do lots of physical therapy, and many alternative therapies that have helped my progress.
Living with a spinal cord injury is more expensive than I thought, all the prices of daily life with this injury add up. My mom had to leave her job to take care of me on top of it. (My mom is amazing) Unfortunately, treatments, and therapies, and other expenses are not covered by insurance. We would be grateful for everyone’s help. Any amount donated is so greatly appreciated and will go towards helping me walk again. Even the littlest bit helps.
To help ease the financial burden on my family, a fundraising campaign in my honor has been established with Help Hope Live. You are able to make a tax-deductible donation to help me walk again. All donations are held by Help Hope Live and are only to be used for medically-related expenses.
I believe that with the help from new advance treatments, alternative therapies, and the power of the mind, and most importantly the grace of God.. My body will heal, and I will be walking. Again, thank you SO much. So much love to everyone who has helped me and is continuing to support me. The feeling of support helps me so much.

Thank you for your prayers, support, and generosity!!!
Amanda McCoy, at the age of 21 was paralyzed from the waist down from a snowboarding accident in January 2018. She suffered a Spinal Cord Injury, and the doctors told her she would never walk again. Amanda has been participating in many therapies to gain the function of legs back again. She is very determined, and feels it’s totally possible to walk again. She has explored many different healing therapies since injured, and continues to do so. She has been working out of the box, and finding ways that are helping her legs gain movement and strength again.
Amanda is constantly working her hardest to heal, while living life to the fullest, at her young age. She is taking online courses, going to her job, doing physical therapy, and living life, happily. Amanda’s mom, had to leave her job in order to help Amanda and drive her to and from therapy, appointments, and work everyday. Amanda has gained almost all of her independence back, she just needs a car. Amanda will use a car installed with adaptive hand controls so she can be 100% independent again. With this car, she will be able to continue with her healing, while her mom can finally go back to work.
It would be amazing, if we could all get together and help Amanda and her family with expenses. Having a Spinal Cord Injury, comes along with a load of expenses. Medical bills, physical therapy, alternative therapies, hand controls, and a car. It all adds up. All therapies are out of pocket for spinal cord injuries. To take the financial burden off Amanda and her family, let’s help. Let’s raise Amanda the money she needs to continue to work hard at therapy, and to gain her independence back with a car.
Currently Amanda is healing with the help of:
-Neurological Based Pilates, with Ilene, at Newtown Heath and Wellness
-Dr.Kimberly Yeager -Rose and Dr.Patricia Little at Newtown Health and Wellness and Perfectly Balanced Pilates studio.
-Feldenkrais Method Sessions, with Dayana, at Koru Real Wellness
-Acupuncture, with Faith, at Relief Acupuncture
-Holistic Chiropractic, with Mahan Rishi, at Khalsa Healing Arts
-DIY at home/gym therapies and Holistic ways of healing
