2 months post op and Jake is doing extremely well! He has been released to do some of his favorite activities like fishing, camping, and attending family functions with precautionary measures of course. He is eatingn well and is handling his meds. We are so happy with his continued progress and are so blessed
It has been 1 month and 3 days since Jake received his gift of life. He is getting stronger everyday and is doing extremely well. He is adjusting well to being at home and back in his own bed. The boys are out of school for the summer and are able to help their dad and Veronica has gone back to work part time and still able to take him to his labs and clinics. Continued prayers for Jake on his recovery.
Day 18 Post Transplant and Jake is home! He was released from the hospital on Saturday, May 12th. He is doing great and was glad to get home to his boys. A large part of the recovery process is mental and he needed to be home with his family. Veronica is doing great taking on the task of Nurse. She has been wonderful through this whole process. During this next phase of his healing process he will have to travel for a bit back and forth to the hospital about 40 minutes away for clinics and lab work, but this should lessen as the weeks go by and hopefully not have to travel so much. Continue prayers and help is needed for Jake and his family.
We are finding the life saving medicine he now be on forever, will be costly as well as gas traveling back and forth. Any help is so appreciated!
Day 11 of transplant recovery. Jake is still in the hospital as they are trying to get his blood work leveled off and his kidneys working to where they feel comfortable sending him home. Projected date of release may be on Wednesday, May 9th. He looks great and is recoverying very well. All the nurses love him and request to have him during their shift. Veronica has been by his side 24/7 and has been a God send to Jake in his recovery. Jake gets stronger and stronger everyday and is truly a miracle.
Day 5 post transplant and Jake is doing extremely well. He has been taken off all IV drips, breathing tubes and catheters, he is on a clear liquid diet. He is up walking and sitting and really has been a model patient. I stayed with him last night so Veronica could get the boys settled for the week. She has been a blessing through all this and Jake and the boys are her #1 priority. I have never hear him complain once. The nurses all love him and his mild manner. He had been given a couple of dialysis treatments to help jumpstart his kidneys which is normal for such an extensive surgery. Continued prayers for him and his family that everyday he gets a little stronger and on the road to recovery.
My brother Jake Martinez was given the most precious gift of all, the gift of life. He received his life saving liver transplant during the early morning hours of April 27th. It was a successful transplant surgery but not without complications as with any life saving surgery. The first 24 hours are the most crucial.
Special Prayers for the donor who saved my brother
