Judy Rumler has been living with COPD and emphysema for 15 years. Unfortunately, her condition has gotten progressively worse within the last year and she is now in need of a life-saving lung transplant.
Judy, loving mother of four children and six grandchildren, is currently living with her daughter Amanda and her nine-year-old grandson, Noel. Judy heavily depends on Amanda and Noel, especially on her bad breathing days. She elects to not leave the confines of the apartment often because, as you can imagine, carrying a breathing machine is not an easy task. Not to mention, Judy is constantly worried about her oxygen running out when she does leave the apartment because she is currently unable to afford a backup battery. The stairs to the second floor apartment where Judy resides are also a challenge. She is unable to climb the stairs. As Judy describes the situation, “I do the best I can with what I have.”
Despite the financial burdens she faces, Judy is extremely thankful for the love and support of her family. She wants nothing more than to be an active participant in her grandchildren’s lives. She longs to watch them grow up, get married, and start their own families one day.
While Judy has health insurance, many medical expenses are not covered. Your generous donation to Help Hope Live in Judy’s honor can help ease the burden of finances so she can focus on a healthy recovery, followed by a long and productive life ahead with her family.
Help Hope Live is a national nonprofit that specializes in engaging communities in fundraising campaigns for people who need a transplant or are affected by a catastrophic injury or illness. Since 1983, campaigns organized by Help Hope Live have raised over $131 million to pay patient expenses.
Judy has chosen to fundraise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses.
Make a donation right now by visiting helphopelive.org and searching for Judy Rumler or by calling 800.642.8399. Your kind donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law, and all funds raised will be used to offset medical expenses as part of the Southwest Transplant Fund.
