PLEASE MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN AMY’S LIFE

Dear Friends and Family,
My name is Amy Grady. I am the wife of Shane Grady and mother of two boys: Jacob is 12 and Kaleb is 16. I, along with my extended family, need your help. In September of 2006 I was diagnosed with leukemia, a blood and bone marrow cancer. It has now progressed to the point where a bone marrow transplant is the only option left to save my life. Doctors at UNC have already set up the procedure, and have harvested marrow from three people.
However funding this life-saving operation is a monumental task. Even with insurance, there will be many uninsured medically-related expenses: the cost of having to relocate closer to the center, co-pays for chemotherapy, and all the medications my insurance does not cover. Post-transplant I have to live within 30 miles of the hospital for 90 days. This is about 4 to 5 months of healthcare that I simply can not afford. My husband will not be able to work since he will be my caregiver 24/7 for 90 days. The hospital requires check-ups a minimum of three days a week during this time to make sure my body doesn’t reject the transplant.
To help offset some of these expenses, a fundraising campaign in my honor has been established with HelpHOPELive. HelpHOPELive has been assisting the transplant community with fundraising for more than 28 years. All contributions are tax-deductible and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Your support can make the difference in my life. Please consider making a donation today.
