“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

It is my hope that once you read this story, you too will be blessed to give. James needs your help to keep hope alive. James has advanced kidney disease, requiring a kidney transplant or at some point dialysis to survive. His sister, Jonetta, has agreed to donate one of her kidneys to her big brother to maintain a healthy quality of life. We are asking family and friends to join us in fundraising for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to help with expenses James and his family will face after surgery. The expenses will include the cost for lodging near the MUSC transplant center, medical follow ups, and medication following the discharge from the center.

These extraordinary individuals live positive and productive lives within their families, and in the community. James, and his wife of 35 years, provide loving care for their 31-year-old son, whom has special needs. James’employment with the state, coordinating services with organizations throughout South Carolina to help homeless individual and families. Jonetta is the mother of 3 exceptional children. She is a nurse providing care to premature and/or sick newborns. She provides lifesaving techniques to help families to embrace some of the challenges they may face that could affect their whole lives. Her act of kindness of donating a kidney to James is an unconditional love that reaches beyond most people’s understanding.
