I am fighting today with hope that a transplant can save my life and provide a future of better health and more time with the people that I love…
I have been diagnosed with a very rare and progressive cardiopulmonary disease called pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). There is not a cure for this disease which results in the need for a lung transplant to avoid premature death. I am a very compliant patient who, according to my doctors, would have a relatively good prognosis with a lung transplant. I am medically maximized with complex therapies, but my heart failure continues to progress and now my other organs are being affected as well. Without a transplant, I am not likely to make it through the next year.
I am a father and best friend to my 13 year old son Caden. There is nothing I would love more than the opportunity to spend time with my son. I long to be healthy enough to travel with Caden and do seemingly small, but meaningful activities with him such as take him fishing. I want to be there for my son to be sure I am able to raise Caden into a caring, compassionate and strong young man. I am lucky enough to be surrounded by friends and family who love and respect me and I want to be sure that I am in good health so that I can continue to spend time with the people that I love.
I currently reside in Las Vegas, NV with the nearest transplant center being The University of Utah. I will have to relocate for a few years for the transplant and follow up therapy. Lung transplant is known to be one of the most expensive and complicated surgeries. Although I have insurance, many costs will not be covered by my insurance. For example, there are many expensive anti rejection drugs that I will be required to take that are not covered by my insurance. In addition, I will encounter the costs of physical therapy, travel, medical equipment and hospitalization should there be any complications.
I need YOUR help to survive. Any donation will help ease the financial burden of my transplant and help me to focus on a healthy recovery alongside my family.
Thank you in advance for your support,
Alex Cabrera

I know it's not much but every little bit helps. Jamie A.K.A Cookie Lady(my oldest daughter dubbed this nickname) helped me and my family immensely when we had a tragic loss. I could not imagine being able to continue my day without helping in some way. Good Luck Alex, hold your head high Sir!
