In 2015 Brett Ploessel was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, otherwise known as IPF. IPF is an incurable chronic lung disease which results in a progressive and irreversible decline in lung function. In 2015 we were told that eventually Brett would need a double lung transplant. sadly that time has arrived and thus the reason for reaching out and asking for your prayers, positive intensions and support.

Brett has been hospitalized and is officially listed as a candidate for a double lung transplant. Our goal is to transplant at the Norton Thoracic Institute at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix, AZ. This hospital has the busiest lung transplant program in the United States with 117 transplants in 2016. It also has one of the highest one-year survival rates (90%) and has a shorter wait time (15 days) as compared to our local Denver based hospital( 27 transplants in 2017 with an unknown wait time).
